There are 16 teams that are going to battle it out for the last eight spots in the Sweet 16 on Sunday, and we are going to be paying close attention to all of the duels and making our NCAA Tournament picks and predictions for all eight clashes.

NCAA Tournament Matchup: #11 North Carolina State Wolfpack vs. #3 Georgetown Hoyas
Date: Sunday, March 18th, 12:15 ET
Location: Nationwide Arena, Columbus, OH
March Madness Odds: Georgetown -4.5
NCAA Tournament TV Schedule: CBS

It is going to be a very interesting afternoon in Columbus, especially if the Wolfpack can figure out to knock down their shots in a big time way in this one against one of the very few Big East teams that are left standing. Of course, there is a shot that NCSU might be the only team left from the ACC when this one is said and done as well, knowing that Florida State and UNC might really be up against it, and Virginia and Duke are already finished and back at home. The Hoyas seem to get bounced by teams that they have no business losing to each and every year, and this really could be no exception. Take the points for sure, but we don’t think that they’ll matter. NC State is the better team in our eyes for the dance.

NCAA Tournament Free Pick: NC State +4.5

NCAA Tournament Matchup: #9 Saint Louis Billikens vs. #1 Michigan State Spartans
Date: Sunday, March 18th, 2:45 ET
Location: Nationwide Arena, Columbus, OH
March Madness Odds: Michigan State -6.5
NCAA Tournament TV Schedule: CBS

We could have our first No. 1 seed really be in some trouble on Sunday, and the Ken Pomeroy rankings suggest that just that could happen. The Billikens are a Top 15 team in the league according to the Pomeroy rankings, and that means that MSU could be in for a real fight. St. Louis is a team that really fights hard, and there aren’t all that many plays that you see anyone taking off. The Spartans really struggled at times with LIU-Brooklyn on Friday, and if that ends up being the case again on Sunday, the Big Ten champs could be on their way out the door. This is another one of these very live dogs that we think is going to come through in a big time way come Sunday.

NCAA Tournament Free Pick: Saint Louis +6.5

NCAA Tournament Matchup: #8 Creighton Blue Jays vs. #1 North Carolina Tar Heels
Date: Sunday, March 18th, 5:15 ET
Location: Greensboro Coliseum, Greensboro, NC
March Madness Odds: North Carolina -8.5
NCAA Tournament TV Schedule: CBS

The time is here for the Tar Heels to come out and make a big time statement. There just isn’t all that much of a way that we can see Creighton getting the job done, though there definitely is a bit of a precedent for a No. 8 or a No. 9 out of the Missouri Valley Conference knocking off a top seed… Just ask Kansas what it thought of Northern Iowa a couple years ago… Doug McDermott is great, but we think that we are going to see John Henson back in the fold on Sunday. As long as Henson is relatively healthy, he could be a man that makes a heck of a lot happen to shut down the big time Blue Jay. UNC has a number of ways that it could win this game by double digits. Creighton really only has one way that it doesn’t get shellacked, and we don’t see it happening.

NCAA Tournament Free Pick: North Carolina -8.5

NCAA Tournament Matchup: #15 Norfolk State Spartans vs. #7 Florida Gators
Date: Sunday, March 18th, 6:10 ET
Location: Century Link Center, Omaha, NE
March Madness Odds: Florida -14.5
NCAA Tournament TV Schedule: TNT

The Gators really caught the break of the tourney when they found out that they were going to get the MEAC champs from Norfolk State in the second round and not a 30-win Missouri team that the argument could be made should still have been a No. 1 seed in the dance. Florida has to be careful with this one though, knowing that it could go cold from beyond the arc and then all of a sudden end up in some issues with the No. 15 seed in the West. The Spartans are coming off of their greatest game in team history, but we just don’t see it happening again. Norfolk State had to do 100% of everything correctly, and even that was almost not nearly good enough to get the job done. This is the same type of team that NSU just beat, but this time around, it won’t be anywhere near as lucky. The orange and blue should advance relatively easily.

NCAA Tournament Free Pick: Florida -14.5

NCAA Tournament Matchup: #13 Ohio Bobcats vs. #12 South Florida Bulls
Date: Sunday, March 18th, 7:10 ET
Location: Bridgestone Arena, Nashville, TN
March Madness Odds: South Florida -3
NCAA Tournament TV Schedule: TBS

There is one thing that you definitely know about this game, and that’s that it is going to be one in which neither team is going to be able to get up and run. The Bobcats aren’t generally all that quick of a team, and South Florida slows the game down to a pace that snails can usually keep up with. The Bulls have been getting just enough perimeter scoring and timely shots to stay alive in this tournament, and they have gotten incredibly lucky as well just to be in this position to be favored to get to the Sweet 16 after having played in the First Four. There is a point that fatigue starts to set in though, and whereas some of the more talented teams in the country will be able to overcome this with sheer talent, we don’t think that USF has the ability to do just that. Three games in five days we don’t think is going to cut it.

NCAA Tournament Free Pick: Ohio +3

NCAA Tournament Matchup: #15 Lehigh Mountain Hawks vs. #10 Xavier Musketeers
Date: Sunday, March 18th, 7:45 ET
Location: Greensboro Coliseum, Greensboro, NC
March Madness Odds: Xavier -3.5
NCAA Tournament TV Schedule: truTV

Think that the oddsmakers understand that it is entirely possible that this Lehigh team could get through this game? Think about it for a second. Duke fans have all gone home with their tails between their legs, and Carolina fans are going to surely be rooting for the team that got rid of the Dookies. You might think that Tu Holloway and Mark Lyons are the best shooters on the court, but we just aren’t all that sure that that is the case. The whole world learned who CJ McCollum was on Friday night when he absolutely lit up the Blue Devils, and he might be able to get the job done again. This is most certainly a team that is capable of pulling off yet another upset and making a tremendous amount of history in the process. We just don’t see Xavier being good enough to get the job done yet again after another grueling game to take care of Notre Dame just to reach this point.

NCAA Tournament Free Pick: Lehigh +3.5

NCAA Tournament Matchup: #10 Purdue Boilermakers vs. #2 Kansas Jayhawks
Date: Sunday, March 18th, 8:40 ET
Location: Century Link Center, Omaha, NE
March Madness Odds: Kansas -7.5
NCAA Tournament TV Schedule: TNT

Should the Jayhawks really be laying more than a touchdown to a Purdue team that has a whole heck of a lot of talent and certainly isn’t going to be all that intimidated? We aren’t so sure. We give Head Coach Matt Painter and the crew all of the credit in the world for being able to put aside St. Mary’s on Friday in spite of the fact that Robbie Hummel only scored 10 points. Often times when he isn’t on his game, Purdue is in trouble, yet on this day, against a very good team, the rest of the squad stepped it up. It is going to take a much better effort to be able to beat the Jayhawks, and we really don’t think that it is going to happen, knowing just how angry that KU looked when it took out Detroit on Friday night. That being said, we most certainly want the points on our side.

NCAA Tournament Free Pick: Purdue +7.5

NCAA Tournament Matchup: #6 Cincinnati Bearcats vs. #3 Florida State Seminoles
Date: Sunday, March 18th, 9:40 ET
Location: Bridgestone Arena, Memphis, TN
March Madness Odds: Florida State -2
NCAA Tournament TV Schedule: TBS

Be sure to put the women and children to bed before watching this one on Sunday night. The Noles and the Bearcats are going to play some ugly, ugly basketball for sure, and they are both going to be trying to get the best of the other with a lot of chippy play. Michael Snaer didn’t do a thing for FSU on Friday, but he is going to be expected to do a lot of damage against a Cincinnati defense that has the ability to really lock down anyone in the land. Both of these teams struggled at times in their first round victories, but in the end, it is really hard to beat the Seminoles at the game that they excel at. It didn’t work for Virginia twice this year, and it isn’t going to work for the Bearcats either. The garnet and gold will be sure to take care of business and become the last team to punch its ticket to the Sweet 16.

NCAA Tournament Free Pick: Florida State -2
