The first Thursday of the NCAA Tournament is one of the best days of the year, and to kick off this great spectacle this week, we are going to be taking a look at our March Madness picks for the first four games on the docket for March Madness!
NCAA Tournament Matchup: #11 Colorado State Rams vs. #6 Murray State Racers
Date: Thursday, March 15th, 12:15 ET
Location: KFC Yum! Arena, Louisville, KY
March Madness Odds: Murray State -5
NCAA Tournament TV Schedule: CBS
Murray State and Colorado State are two teams that are awfully similar, knowing that they are both teams that love to shoot the ball from all over the court and sometimes have some issues rebounding and with defense. That’s not to say that both aren’t capable, because they both clearly are. There are a number of pundits that think that the Rams are going to be the team to pick off the Racers, but we aren’t so sure that that is the case. We do think that the winner of this game could be served to go on a big time run in this tournament, as both of these teams have a heck of a lot of potential. That being said, we are going to lay the points on Thursday to start off, as we don’t think that it was a brutal mistake that this Murray State team went the whole season with just one loss.

NCAA Tournament Matchup: #9 Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles vs. #8 Kansas State Wildcats
Date: Thursday, March 15th, 12:40 ET
Location: Consol Energy Arena, Pittsburgh, PA
March Madness Odds: Kansas State -5
NCAA Tournament TV Schedule: truTV
The second game of the dance is going to be an interesting one, as these 8/9 games are always intriguing. Southern Miss is a team that can play some defense, but in the end, it isn’t nearly as talented of a side as the Wildcats are. Kansas State is legit, and it has proven that it can beat anyone in the nation. Just ask Baylor and Missouri what they think of this KSU team. The oddsmakers have gotten this one right. Conference USA just can’t hold a candle to what the Big XII has been able to do this year, and we are definitely believers in the Wildcats trumping a Southern Miss team that we just don’t have any feelings for in a game that we don’t feel will ever really be all that close.
NCAA Tournament Free Pick: Kansas State -5
NCAA Tournament Matchup: #13 Davidson Wildcats vs. #4 Louisville Cardinals
Date: Thursday, March 15th, 1:40 ET
Location: Rose Garden, Portland, OR
March Madness Odds: Louisville -7
NCAA Tournament TV Schedule: TBS
There are many that think Davidson is ripe for an upset here, but we just aren’t so sure whether this is a team that is living off of its past or not. Stephen Curry isn’t going to be walking through those doors for the Wildcats at any point, but we aren’t sold on this Louisville side either. It’s a great defensive team and we know it, but at some point, someone is going to pick this team off. The ‘Ville knows that it has a history of getting taken down by teams like this one (remember Morehead State last year?). We think that the Cards are going to figure out how to get out of this game, but we aren’t so sure that it is going to be by a touchdown. In the end, there’s too much Peyton Siva and the gang, and Louisville will get through, but it won’t be by more than a couple of buckets in what should be a great game.
NCAA Tournament Free Pick: Davidson +7
NCAA Tournament Matchup: #13 Montana Grizzlies vs. #4 Wisconsin Badgers
Date: Thursday, March 15th, 2:10 ET
Location: The Pit Arena, Albuquerque, NM
March Madness Odds: Wisconsin -9.5
NCAA Tournament TV Schedule: TNT
Wisconsin is one of these teams that is just tremendously predictable in the tourney. You know what you’re getting when you’re dealing with these Big Ten teams. They’re all great defensively, but in the end, most don’t have the guard play to be able to stick around when the going gets tough against these teams that catch some fire from beyond the arc. And in the end, a team like this Montana side always seems to take the Badgers down. We don’t think that that will be an exception this year either. The Grizz are a good outfit, and they have a heck of a lot of scoring potential. All five starters scored in double figures in the dominating win over Weber State in the Big Sky Final, and if that ends up being anywhere near the case in this one, Wisky had better be careful.
NCAA Tournament Free Pick: Montana +9.5
