It’s amazing to think how far mid-major basketball has come over the course of the last several years. Butler and VCU paved the way for that when they met in the Final Four a few years back, and now, they are competing for the first time as members of the Atlantic 10. The Rams are another one of these teams that you don’t want to see in your bracket if you can help it. They are averaging over 12 steals per game as a team, and they force as many turnovers as any team in the nation does. This is a squad that will go full out for the full 40 minutes and will rotate 10 men into and out of the lineup to make things happen. Butler took a bit of a step in the wrong direction this past Friday when it was beaten by the St. Louis Billikens at Hinkle Fieldhouse, and now, it has to go on the road, where it is going to be an underdog to lose its third game in its last five. Head Coach Shaka Smart and Head Coach Brad Stevens are two of the pioneer coaches of mid-major basketball that turned down the big bucks to stay at their respective schools. Butler got the best of this battle the first time around in the Final Four. VCU will get the job done this time at home.

Butler vs. VCU Pick: VCU Rams -7
Butler vs. VCU Prediction: VCU 68 – Butler 60
