Tuesday night’s college hoops schedule is posted at Cappers Info, and we are taking a close look at some of the best games on the slate and making our NCAA basketball picks for the duels ahead.

College Basketball Matchup: DePaul Blue Demons vs. Connecticut Huskies
Date: Tuesday, March 6th, 12:00 ET
Location: Madison Square Garden, New York, NY
College Basketball Odds: UConn -9
College Basketball TV Schedule: ESPN2, ESPN3.com

Talk about a game that you can’t afford to lose… The Huskies have to have this one to make sure that they stay in the discussion to get into the dance. This could be the start of another great run for Head Coach Jim Calhoun and company, but we think that the Blue Demons are at least going to put up a fight and stick around in this one until the very end to make UConn sweat it out.

NCAA Basketball Pick: DePaul +9

College Basketball Matchup: Pittsburgh Panthers vs. St. John’s Red Storm
Date: Tuesday, March 6th, 2:00 ET
Location: Madison Square Garden, New York, NY
College Basketball Odds: Pittsburgh -5
College Basketball TV Schedule: ESPN2, ESPN3.com

Pittsburgh is clearly a team that is good enough to be in the NCAA Tournament, but after a miserable mid-season stretch, there is no way that it is going to happen without the league’s automatic bid into the dance. The Panthers are going to have their way with St. John’s though, in spite of the fact that the Johnnies are the not-so-de-facto hosts of this tournament and are used to playing in this building.

NCAA Basketball Pick: Pittsburgh -5

College Basketball Matchup: North Texas Mean Green vs. Western Kentucky Hilltoppers
Date: Tuesday, March 6th, 7:00 ET
Location: Summit Arena, Hot Springs, AR
College Basketball Odds: No Line
College Basketball TV Schedule: ESPN2, ESPN3.com

Western Kentucky isn’t your average 14-18 team. The Hilltoppers have played a heck of a lot better ball since going through a coaching change, and they have beaten some of the best teams that the Sun Belt has to offer. Though North Texas is on a great run right now as well, we think that we are going to see some of the magic of March strike, as WKU is going to get to put on its dancing shoes in the Sun Belt final.

NCAA Basketball Pick: Western Kentucky Hilltoppers

College Basketball Matchup: Western Illinois Leathernecks vs. South Dakota State Jackrabbits
Date: Tuesday, March 6th, 9:00 ET
Location: Sioux Falls Arena, Sioux Falls, SD
College Basketball Odds: No Line
College Basketball TV Schedule: ESPN2, ESPN3.com

If you want to see some celebrations, you’re going to want to catch the Summit League final, as neither Western Illinois nor South Dakota State go dancing all that often. WIU probably did everything that it could do to take Oral Roberts out of this tournament, and now, it is going to be in a pinch to try to take care of the de facto hosts of this tourney. Don’t be shocked if the Jackrabbits come out with sound and fury and dismiss the Leathernecks in big time fashion.

NCAA Basketball Pick: South Dakota State Jackrabbits

College Basketball Matchup: Detroit Titans vs. Valparaiso Crusaders
Date: Tuesday, March 6th, 9:00 ET
Location: Athletics & Recreation Center, Valparaiso, IN
College Basketball Odds: Valpo -2
College Basketball TV Schedule: ESPN, ESPN3.com

Valpo knows that it has this one in the bag playing at home, and we are actually a bit surprised that it is only favored by two points. Detroit had a good team this year, but it wasn’t nearly as solid as the Crusaders were, and in the end, we think that that is going to make all of the difference. The Titans just don’t have a second win in Indiana in them this year.

NCAA Basketball Pick: Valpo -2
