On Saturday, there are a handful of games on the college basketball television schedule that we have circled that should be good ones. Check out our NCAA basketball picks for Saturday!

College Basketball Matchup: Ohio State Buckeyes @ Indiana Hoosiers
Date: Saturday, December 31st, 6:00 ET
Location: Assembly Hall, Bloomington, IN
College Basketball TV Schedule: ESPN2, ESPN3.com

The Hoosiers got the respect that they deserve a few weeks ago when they took down Kentucky right here in this gym, and they are going to be overvalued now by the oddsmakers in this one. We probably haven’t seen the best yet out of the Buckeyes this year because of all of the time that Jared Sullinger has spent on the sidelines as well. Cody Zeller just has too tough of a matchup in this one for IU to survive. It could be a game for a good, long while, but in the end, there is just too much of Ohio State for it to be beaten like the Wildcats were.

NCAA Basketball Pick: Ohio State Buckeyes

College Basketball Matchup: Louisville Cardinals @ Kentucky Wildcats
Date: Saturday, December 31st, 12:00 ET
Location: Rupp Arena, Lexington, KY
College Basketball TV Schedule: CBS

What we found out during the week was that the Cardinals are absolutely mortal, and they could continue to look quite mortal in this one as well. The Wildcats still have a team that is immensely talented, and though we just spent the last paragraph basically dogging their efforts at Assembly Hall, we don’t see them getting challenged here at Rupp Arena. UK is due to just blow someone out of the water in this building on a national stage, and this would be the time to do it against a bunch of Cardinals that just aren’t as good as their start to the season suggested.

NCAA Basketball Pick: Kentucky Wildcats

College Basketball Matchup: Xavier Musketeers @ Gonzaga Bulldogs
Date: Saturday, December 31st, 8:00 ET
Location: Cintas Center, Cincinnati, OH
College Basketball TV Schedule: ESPN2, ESPN3.com

Xavier just hasn’t looked the same since the fight against Cincinnati, and we are afraid when the end result is going to be in this one. Gonzaga is always one of these teams that isn’t afraid to go on the road and take on some of the best teams in America. That being said, though this team is superiorly talented right now to that of the X-Men with all of the suspensions, it’s not a great matchup. You know that you are going to get a battle when you play Xavier, especially on the road, and we think that Tu Holloway just doesn’t have anyone that can match up with him on the court. He shines on national television, and the Musketeers take a huge step in the right direction once again after the fight and before the A-10 season starts.

NCAA Basketball Pick: Xavier Musketeers

College Basketball Matchup: Illinois Fighting Illini @ Purdue Boilermakers
Date: Saturday, December 31st, 4:00 ET
Location: Mackey Arena, West Lafayette, IN
College Basketball TV Schedule: ESPN2

Be very careful here if you want to back Purdue. We tend to think that the Boilermakers are a shell of their old selves and that they could be exposed early in the Big Ten season as frauds. This is a team that lost to Butler and was challenged by the likes of Iowa, Western Carolina, Holy Cross, and Iona so far this year. That’s not great knowing that the big boys are coming to Mackey Arena still in conference. Illinois has a great opportunity here to use its defense to make a statement if it can shut down Robbie Hummel. Don’t be shocked if the Illini make this one look easy on the road.

NCAA Basketball Pick: Illinois Fighting Illini
