NIT Matchup: #5 Massachusetts Minutemen @ #3 Drexel Dragons
Date: Tuesday, March 20th, 7:00 ET
Location: John A. Daskalakis center, Philadelphia, PA
NIT Odds: Drexel -6.5
NIT TV Schedule: ESPN
It is great that we are going to see one of these smaller schools playing in Madison Square Garden with the big boys in the NIT Final Four. We still are concerned as to why the Minutemen are getting such little respect. They have already gone on the road and taken down two teams from the big time conferences. Sure, Drexel isn’t going to be overlooking this team, and the argument could be made that this is the toughest test of the three for the A-10 reps, but in the end, we still think that this conference was a heck of a lot better than the CAA this year, and though we aren’t so sure which way this one is going to finish, we do think that it is a lot like a tossup game and not one in which one team should be favored by a touchdown over the other.
NIT Free Pick: Massachusetts +6.5
NIT Matchup: #3 Oregon Ducks @ #1 Washington Huskies
Date: Tuesday, March 20th, 9:00 ET
Location: Alaska Airlines Arena, Seattle, WA
NIT Odds: Washington -4.5
NIT TV Schedule: ESPN
Oregon and Washington are two teams that are clearly familiar with one another in the Pac-12, and there is a lot of history here to analyze. The home team has won five in a row in this series, and the Ducks have already been blown out of the water by 16 by U-Dub here in this building once this year. We just don’t see how matters are going to be any better for the visitors in this one even though this is a postseason tournament. Sure, the U of O offense has scored a whopping 204 points in two games in the NIT, but Washington really hasn’t had any problems covering both of its games either. We just don’t see how the Ducks are going to come on the road and best a bunch of Huskies that are really one of the only solid teams left in this field. U-Dub knows that it has a shot to win the NIT this year, and we don’t think that it is going to punt this game away.
NIT Free Pick: Washington -4.5
