F Jack Cooley and the Fighting Irish have had their work cut out for them in the Big East thus far this year. This is a team that is a solid 14-2 on the campaign, and the club could ultimately still work its way up to a very high seed in the NCAA Tournament with a successful Big East campaign. However, what Head Coach Mike Bray and company are figuring out is that teams that play stout defense (and there are plenty of them in this conference) are giving Notre Dame tons of problems. After playing Cincinnati in a gritty battle last Monday and then losing to Connecticut over the weekend, it’s back on the road to MSG, where the Johnnies are waiting. There are better fundamental defensive teams than this, but there are few that are as intense as the Red Storm. St. John’s is blocking over 8.5 shots per game this year, and it flies all over the place in the paint. Cooley could have some problems working on the inside, and if that turns out to be the case and the outside shooters struggle, there is a great chance that this game could end in an upset.

Notre Dame vs. St. John’s Pick: St. John’s Red Storm +5.5
Notre Dame vs. St. John’s Prediction: St. John’s 70 – Notre Dame 65
