There are few games in the mid-major realm that have our attention as much as the MAC Final does between Akron and Ohio. These two teams absolutely hate each other’s guts, and it shows every time they are on the court together. The two played to overtime just a few weeks ago, a game that the Zips won in overtime to extend their winning streak to 19 games. However, a stroke of misfortune has overcome Akron in the loss of G Alex Abreu, presumably for the rest of the season after he was picked up for drug trafficking. Now, there really is no hope for the Zips to pull off upsets in the NCAA Tournament, even if they get there. Teams have to have guard play at this level. Ohio has it with G DJ Cooper, G Nick Kellogg, and G Walter Offutt, all of which have to thrilled that they don’t have to chase around Abreu in this one. We do have a tiny fear that the Zips are going to hit the glass hard and outrebound Ohio to death, but in the end, someone has to maintain the basketball and knock down some shots from the outside. The Bobcats have it. Akron doesn’t. The Bobcats are going to go dancing and get some big time revenge on their hated foes in the process.

Ohio vs. Akron Pick: Ohio Bobcats
MAC Final Prediction: Ohio 72 – Akron 63
