Matchup: #8 Ole Miss at Arkansas (Ole Miss -3.5, 45 at JustBet)
Date/Time: Saturday, November 22nd @ 3:30 pm (EST)
Location: Fayetteville, AR (Airing on CBS)
Preview: The Ole Miss Rebels are coming off their bye week and before that they were seen beating an overmatched Presbyterian team 48-0 in what was more of a scrimmage for the Rebels. The game before that they had lost to Auburn and it was a rather costly loss as they lost their leading receiver Laquon Treadwell for the year with a fractured fibula and dislocated ankle. The Rebels are still ranked 8th in the nation and have an outside shot of getting into the national championship playoff, yet a lot would have to happen.
The Arkansas Razorback are coming off an impressive 17-0 victory over LSU. The win snapped their 17 game conference losing streak, and head coach Brett Bielema finally got his first SEC win. The Razorbacks were pretty impressive, outgaining the Tigers in yardage 264-123. Arkansas is one of those teams that’s improving as the season goes on, and have been competitive against some of the best teams in the SEC this season. They have the 22nd ranked running game in the nation, and are also 22nd in the nation in total defense, allowing 340.6 yards per game.
I’m grabbing the points with the home dog Razorbacks on Saturday. We backed Arkansas last weekend, as we felt it was a really tough spot for LSU coming off an emotional loss to Alabama. Although Ole Miss has been impressive this season, they’re missing some key players on offense (Treadwell) and on defense (Denzel Nkemdiche). I feel as though Ole Miss is wearing down on defense and it was evident the way Auburn moved the ball against them, and although the thought of a letdown has crossed my mind, I like Arkansas to build on the win last week, and feel they’re playing better as the season goes on. I do think Ole Miss will bring it on Saturday, but they might be looking ahead just a tad to the Egg Bowl matchup against Mississippi State. I like the running game and improving defense of Arkansas to lead the Hogs to a second straight SEC win and become bowl eligible in the process.
