Are we the only ones that get the feeling that the ACC is going to get its butt kicked by the SEC this weekend? It wasn’t an accident that South Carolina raced out to a 10-0 lead in seemingly the first minute against North Carolina, and it isn’t a mistake that Alabama is favored by three TDs over Virginia Tech. The oddsmakers didn’t make a mistake here either by making Georgia the very slight favorite against Clemson. Yes, the Tigers are good, but in the end, they are from the ACC not the SEC, and that generally turns out to be pretty damning.
The Bulldogs don’t have the same type of defense that say, the South Carolina Gamecocks did last year when they came into Death Valley and blew apart the Tigers’ offense. However, Georgia has a lot better offense that isn’t going to be intimidated about going on the road into a hostile environment. QB Aaron Murray nearly beat Alabama last season, and he was able to win a somewhat de facto road game in Jacksonville against the Florida Gators. Over the course of the last six games of the season including the Capital One Bowl, UGA tallied at least 28, and they put at least 37 up against everyone not named Alabama in that stretch. We have to think that the Georgia offense is going to find a way to get the job done come hell or high water on Saturday night in the showcase game of the year, and once again, Clemson will fail to get the job done with a lot of marbles on the line.
Georgia vs. Clemson Pick: Georgia Bulldogs -1.5
