It’s only Sunday night, but we are already set to dissect one of the biggest games of the year in the SEC. These two teams have made a history out of playing each other in the SEC Championship Game, and this could be yet another year in which that happens. These two teams are both Top 10 teams with aspirations of winning the BCS National Championship, though the loser is probably going to have those hopes dashed, especially if it is Georgia that is doing the losing. Remember though, that this is a battle-tested Georgia team that has figured out how to best South Carolina and at least hang around with Clemson, both very good teams in their own rights.
QB Aaron Murray is great, but his defense simply isn’t. There hasn’t been a game this year in which Head Coach Mark Richt has gotten anything notable out of his ‘D’, and that includes when the team was challenged by North Texas last week. LSU is battle tested as well, having played a de facto road game against TCU in Arlington in Week 1. That was before anyone knew that OC Cam Cameron was going to really make a quarterback out of QB Zach Mettenberger. If you believe in karma, you definitely want LSU on your side. Mettenberger was released from Georgia, and he basically landed in Baton Rouge simply because the Tigers didn’t have much in the way of quarterback options. Now, the possibility is there for some revenge. Georgia is only 4-11 ATS in its last 15 home games against teams with winning road records. Be very careful, UGA. Be very, very careful.
LSU vs. Georgia Pick: LSU Tigers +3.5
LSU @ Georgia Score Prediction: LSU 27 – Georgia 24
