JustBetThe poor Rebels have been playing a tremendous schedule over the course of this whole season. There is exactly one game this year in which they have been a favorite by more than a field goal, and that came against Southeast Missouri State. Over the course of the last month, they’ve had the real gauntlet, going against Texas A&M, Auburn, Alabama, and Texas. And oh yes, now comes LSU. QB Bo Wallace has put up 12 TDs this season in six games, but in fairness, he has played against the most brutal schedule in the country. RB Jeff Scott has brought a ton to this offense, averaging 8.2 yards per carry, but he only has 53 carries. A lot of that is because Ole Miss has been playing from behind, and a lot of that has been because the team operates through its passing game and not its ground game.

We’re really wondering if the Tigers have the best team in the land. Yes, they were beaten by the Georgia Bulldogs, but everyone in the SEC deserves a slip up every now and again. Last week’s game against the Florida Gators was a big one, and the 17-point win, though far from flawless, was still a great ‘W’. QB Zach Mettenberger has quietly been one of the best quarterbacks in the SEC this year, and that’s saying something knowing that QB Aaron Murray and QB Johnny Manziel are in this conference, amongst others. Mettenberger has 15 TDs against just two picks, and he has a ground game that is one of the best in the SEC as well. If the Tigers can play defensively like they did last week against UF, this is a game that LSU is going to win, even on the road, by a healthy margin to send a real message to the Alabama Crimson Tide. This might be the top dog in the whole country.
