After a full day of great games on the college football schedule, it is clear that the TCU/LSU game is going to be one of the best to settle in and watch. These two teams both play tremendously hardnosed defense and love to run the football. Both have quarterbacks that have a heck of a lot to prove, and both have the ability to impose their will on the other. Both lost some games last season, but both won a number of games that they seemingly had no business winning. Now, their paths cross with a ton on the line for TCU.
Here’s the issue that we have with TCU at this point: The team really hasn’t beaten any of the big, big boys. Sure, the club beat Texas last season, and sure, the team has some other wins against some of the middling majors across the country, but this is a huge step up in class. This is the SEC, and the top of the SEC at that. The Bayou Bengals take no one lightly, and they have one of the few teams in America that are better prepared to play games with at least two weeks of preparation than the Alabama Crimson Tide are. In fact, Bama has gone 10-2 ATS over the course of the last four years when having at least two weeks to prepare for a game, and both ATS defeats are at the hands of these Tigers. QB Zach Mettenberger is going to get off to a decent start this season, and his defense should do the rest. We like the Bayou Bengals to take down QB Trevone Boykin (or QB Casey Pachall?) and the Horned Frogs on Saturday.
