It’s almost as if the oddsmakers set this line thinking that both the injured QB Tyler Russell and RB LaDarius Perkins weren’t going to play in this game, and that’s how they came up with the college football betting lines. Alas, Russell, who suffered a concussion, is going to be back in the lineup for this one, while Perkins is expected to once again take over as the starting running back after his injury as well. That’s going to basically make this MSU team whole for the first time since the first half against the Oklahoma State Cowboys, and that means bad news for the Tigers.

We love Head Coach Gus Malzahn, and we think that he is going to bring this program back to a level of respectability in the SEC relatively quickly. That being said, we’re not at that point yet. QB Nick Marshall is one of the four men that are averaging over 40 rushing yards per game, and Auburn is averaging 6.2 yards per carry as a team. Just one problem: The schedule to date has stunk and stunk badly. This is the first time that the Tigers are going to be playing against some real competition with a real defense, and it is probably going to show. Remember that the Tigers averaged just over 10 points per game last season in the SEC, including getting shut out in their last two SEC games. They have averaged just over 10 points per game over the course of their last 10 SEC games, all of which have resulted in losses. This one will be no exception on Saturday night.

Mississippi State vs. Auburn Pick: Mississippi State Bulldogs +6
Mississippi State @ Auburn Score Prediction: Mississippi State 27 – Auburn 13
