Most are going to hop right on the bandwagon and go with the Cowboys in this one, and we have seen that pan out over the course of the last few days especially. Around two thirds of the action is on Okie State at this point, and we aren’t all that sure that’s the right call. We know that the Cowboys are going to sling the ball all over the field, but this is an SEC defense that they are going against. Head Coach Dan Mullen is a smart cookie, and he has done a lot with a little here at Mississippi State over the course of the last few years.
In the end, this is a matter of culture. Sure, the Big XII has a good conference, but it’s not the SEC. We have seen all sorts of examples where middling SEC teams have beaten the best in the bunch of other conferences across America, and this might not be any exception to that whatsoever. The Bulldogs are good enough to come on the road and win this game if QB Tyler Russell can keep his head on straight. If the Pokes get frustrated, watch the heck out. This could be a devastating blow to the Big XII and its hopes of challenging for a National Championship at all this season. If the perhaps 9th or 10th best team in the SEC can beat arguably the best in the Big XII, we might be on line for another SEC vs. SEC National Championship Game.
