A lot of the action leading up to this game on Thursday night is on the Commodores, and it seems like that’s where the sharp money is lying. We are starting to agree. We know that Vandy took a big time hit in the offseason, especially when QB Jordan Rodgers and RB Zac Stacy graduated and left the program. Normally speaking, Vandy would need five or six years to rebound from that, but with the way that things have been going of late, perhaps a very quick turnaround will be in order. We also know that the program is anything but bare at this point, and it was never just one man that was calling all of the shots and making all of the plays. QB Austyn Carta-Samuels has a history of winning games with Wyoming, and we think that he could be in for a good season in Nashville.
Most are looking at that 400+ yard passing game that QB Bo Wallace had last year for the Rebels and smiling, thinking that he is going to have a repeat performance. However, this game is in Nashville, not at home, and we also have to remember that Vandy won that game. The history of this series is that the games have been relatively close, as five of the last 10 games have all been decided by just a single score. If that’s how this turns out on Thursday night, as we are expecting it to, we want the Commodores and the points on our side for sure. Ole Miss has a great program, but this is a tough opener. Go with the mild upset.
