Week 8 College Football Matchup: West Virginia Mountaineers @ Syracuse Orange
Date: Friday, October 21st, 8:00 ET
Location: Carrier Dome, Syracuse, NY
College Football Lines: West Virginia -14
Over/Under 59
Week 8 College Football TV Schedule: ESPN

The Mountaineers and the Orange are teams that are on opposite ends of the planet in terms of recent luck. WVU has been to the BCS a number of times, and it has even won some of those games against big time foes. Meanwhile, the Orange are just trying to scrap together a bowl bid for a second straight season. However, these two shouldn’t be considered 14 points apart from one another.

We tend to think that the Cuse are going to take the air out of the football in this one. They have the ability to do just that with a defense that has had some iffy performances this year, but has a lot of talent. Head Coach Doug Marrone is a fiery guy, and he has had two weeks to prepare for this game. Sure, West Virginia has back to back impressive victories in which it has beaten the Connecticut Huskies and Bowling Green Falcons by an aggregate score of 98-26, but this game isn’t in Morgantown, and it isn’t against a team as bad as those two are. Take the points.

Week 8 NCAA Football Pick: Syracuse +14
Week 8 College Football Matchup: Rutgers Scarlet Knights @ Louisville Cardinals
Date: Friday, October 21st, 8:00 ET
Location: Papa John’s Stadium, Louisville, KY
College Football Lines: Louisville -1.5
Over/Under 40
Week 8 College Football TV Schedule: ESPN2

If you like defense, this is certainly the game for you. These two teams are only averaging scoring a combined 46.6 points per game, and they are only allowing 33.7 points per game. There is only one ‘over’ game in the bunch, as they are a combined 1-10-1 from that perspective. This time around, we’re not all that sure, though.

Rutgers has had its problems scoring in games this year at times, but it does consistently get into the 20s.The only game that it didn’t was the tough test at the Carrier Dome, a game that resulted in a narrow escape 19-16 in overtime. Last week, the Cardinals looked alright against the Cincinnati Bearcats on the road, scoring 16 points and accounting for a better than average 271 yards. In the end, seeing 40 hit the scoreboard shouldn’t be too much to ask. Don’t get sucked into the immediate ‘under’. These teams are both questionable offensively, but they’re not nearly as good defensively as their records suggest.

Week 8 NCAA Football Pick: Louisville/Rutgers Over 40
