Week 10 College Football TV Schedule: ESPN2
We need to start out by stating the obvious: This game is going to be ugly, and it’s definitely not going to be a sight for sore eyes, especially if the weather turns badly as it has the potential to do so. These two MAC schools are really the best that the East Division has to offer, but that’s not saying much. Remember that all of the bowl games (all 702 of them) turned down a Temple team that went 8-4 a season ago in favor of a lot of other lousy 6-6 teams from different conferences.
Plus, we know that the Owls are going to sit there and just take the air out of the football virtually every single play. RB Bernard Pierce already has a whopping 181 carries this year, giving him 571 for his career. He already has 951 yards and 18 scores this year, giving him 3,040 yards and 44 scores in his three years at Temple. To put that in comparison, Pierce is 29 TDs shy of the all-time record, but he is only ten short of RB LaDainian Tomlinson, 11 fewer than Chester Taylor and DeAngelo Williams, and 13 fewer than the great Marshall Faulk.
However, what we did see out of this Temple defense was vulnerability when the team had to play from behind against the Toledo Rockets. Toledo was able to get the ball moving on the ground, and it was able to stuff up the run on the other side of the ball. Time of possession wasn’t completely lopsided like it normally is in Temple games, and the end result saw the Owls get destroyed. Ohio has the ability to play the same type of game with QB Tyler Tettleton. Don’t be surprised if Tettleton, who already has 1,969 passing yards and another 225 on the ground this year, keeps the ball moving and leads the Bobcats to the outright upset.
