Year To Date Record: 41-39 ATS
Upset Record: 9-18 -$150

Week 8 College Football Matchup: Indiana Hoosiers @ Iowa Hawkeyes
Date: Saturday, October 22nd, 12:00 ET
Location: Kinnick Stadium, Iowa City, IA
College Football Lines: Iowa -23.5
Over/Under 54.5
Week 8 College Football TV Schedule: Big Ten Network

Indiana is awful and Iowa is awesome, especially at home, but do the Hawkeyes really have the ability to win a game by nearly four touchdowns? We tend to think not. The Hoosiers have stayed stingy for the most part, up until last week’s blowout loss at Camp Randall against the Badgers, as they lost to Penn State, North Texas, Virginia, and Ball State by a combined 19 points. Meanwhile, Iowa only beat Northwestern last week by 10, and it really hasn’t shown the defensive capabilities to hold a team like this down in a conference showdown. The Hoosiers will fight for pride once again and steal a cover by sticking within about three TDs or so.

Week 8 NCAA Football Pick: Indiana +23.5

Week 8 College Football Matchup: Maryland Terrapins @ Florida State Seminoles
Date: Saturday, October 22nd, 3:30 ET
Location: Bobby Bowden Field at Doak Campbell Stadium, Tallahassee, FL
College Football Lines: Florida State -18.5
Over/Under 56
Week 8 College Football TV Schedule: ESPN2

The Seminoles are a sham this year, and though we do think that they are going to win this battle of teams in the Atlantic Division of the ACC, we don’t think that it is always going to be easy. The Terps can score some points, just as they did against both West Virginia and last week against Clemson. Florida State’s offense has been up and down all season long with both QB Clint Trickett and QB EJ Manuel calling the shots. The defense has really disappointed, though. The good news for the Noles is that they are coming off of their bye week. The bad news is that everybody wants to get a piece of them even if they really aren’t the cream of the crop in the ACC anymore.

Week 8 NCAA Football Pick: Maryland +18.5

Week 8 College Football Matchup: Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets @ Miami Hurricanes
Date: Saturday, October 22nd, 3:30 ET
Location: Sun Life Stadium, Miami, FL
College Football Lines: Miami -3
Over/Under 61.5
Week 8 College Football TV Schedule: ESPN

The Yellow Jackets have had all sorts of problems historically with the Hurricanes, and this year probably won’t be any exception. The Miami offense is playing a heck of a lot better ball right now that it has QB Jacory Harris back in the fold after his one game suspension, and the defense has the speed and discipline to shut down the triple option. Head Coach Paul Johnson ripped into his team after last week’s loss at Virginia, but we don’t see it making all that much of a difference when push comes to shove. This could be a long, long day for the Ramblin’ Wreck.

Week 8 NCAA Football Pick: Miami -3

Week 8 College Football Matchup: Arkansas Razorbacks @ Ole Miss Rebels
Date: Saturday, October 22nd, 12:20 ET
Location: Vaught Hemingway Stadium, Oxford, MS
College Football Lines: Arkansas -15
Over/Under 56
Week 8 College Football TV Schedule: SEC Network

Last week, we had no problems laying four touchdowns with Alabama against this Ole Miss squad right here at Vaught Hemingway Stadium, and this week, we have no objections to a similar spread with Arkansas coming to town. The question here is whether the Rebels are going to be able to score on an Arkansas defense which has only had a modest degree of success over the course of the year. We think that this is the worst offense that the SEC has to offer though, and the Hogs aren’t going to make any mistakes. Once QB Tyler Wilson and this offense get going, there is no turning back. If the Razorbacks can get to 35, and we think that they will with no difficulties, they’ll have this game and this spread comfortably covered.

Week 8 NCAA Football Pick: Arkansas -15

Week 8 College Football Matchup: North Carolina Tar Heels @ Clemson Tigers
Date: Saturday, October 22nd, 12:00 ET
Location: Memorial Stadium, Clemson, SC
College Football Lines: Clemson -10.5
Over/Under 58
Week 8 College Football TV Schedule: ESPN

The oddsmakers have totally overreacted to the fact that the Tigers played a game to 101 points last week at the Maryland Terrapins. They also only played one three weeks ago to 26 points against Virginia Tech. Do we believe in Clemson as a title contender? Absolutely not. Do we believe that they have enough defense to maintain the Tar Heels? Absolutely. Though we wouldn’t be all that shocked if the visitors did put up a fight, we much prefer banking on a low scoring game. UNC has played some ugly, ugly games this year, and it knows that that is its only shot of coming out of Death Valley with a ‘W’.

Week 8 NCAA Football Pick: North Carolina/Clemson Under 58

Week 8 College Football Matchup: Kansas State Wildcats @ Kansas Jayhawks
Date: Saturday, October 22nd, 12:00 ET
Location: Memorial Stadium, Lawrence, KS
College Football Lines: Kansas State -10.5
Over/Under 60
Week 8 College Football TV Schedule: Local TV

Last year, the Wildcats won this fixture by 52 points. Kansas State is probably just as good, if not better than it was last year, while Kansas is absolutely no better. The Wildcats are the real deal this year, folks. Sure, they probably won’t be as good as Oklahoma State and Oklahoma when push comes to shove, but if you’re third best behind those two teams, you’re still pretty darn good. We just don’t see any way, in spite of the fact that these two are relatively bitter rivals, that the Jayhawks can keep this within double digits.

Week 8 NCAA Football Pick: Kansas State -10.5

Week 8 College Football Matchup: Marshall Thundering Herd @ Houston Cougars
Date: Saturday, October 22nd, 4:00 ET
Location: MM Roberts Stadium, Houston, TX
College Football Lines: Houston -23
Over/Under 60.5
Week 8 College Football TV Schedule:

The more that Houston creeps up the rankings, the more that it is going to cost you to bet on it. Instead, we are going to go against the grain in this one and back the Thundering Herd. We do think that there is at least a remote possibility of the mega upset in this one, as Marshall has a stingy program. The team is holding foes down to just 25.3 points per game, and as a result, it is 5-2 ATS to show for its work. We think that the Herd can keep Houston in the 30s, and if that’s the case, there’s not much work to be offensively to cover this number, though we think that a more fair score line is going to feature Marshall getting into the 20s against a sometimes shoddy defense.

Week 8 NCAA Football Pick: Marshall +23

Week 8 College Football Matchup: Tennessee Volunteers @ Alabama Crimson Tide
Date: Saturday, October 22nd, 7:15 ET
Location: Bryant Denny Stadium, Tuscaloosa, AL
College Football Lines: Alabama -30
Over/Under 46.5
Week 8 College Football TV Schedule: ESPN2

Anything you can do, I can do better. I can do anything better than you. That’s what the Tide have to be thinking right now. LSU went into Rocky Top last week and beat up the Volunteers by 31. Now, Tennessee has to go into Bryant Denny Stadium without QB Tyler Bray and try to keep its game closer than that. Fat chance. The more interesting spread to us is RB Trent Richardson -24 against the whole Tennessee team. Don’t believe us that it’s possible? Right now, the scoreboard for Richardson is 17 TDs against six TDs for all of the rest of Alabama’s foes for the season.

Week 8 NCAA Football Pick: Alabama -30

Week 8 College Football Matchup: Washington Huskies @ Stanford Cardinal
Date: Saturday, October 22nd, 8:00 ET
Location: Stanford Stadium, Palo Alto, CA
College Football Lines: Stanford -20
Over/Under 63
Week 8 College Football TV Schedule: ABC

Two somewhat correlated plays coming in this one for us. We are big time believers in the Huskies. QB Keith Price, in our eyes, is the better quarterback of he and QB Jake Locker, at least at this level, and it has shown on the scoreboard this year. U-Dub is on the verge of bowl eligibility, and there is a real chance to score yet another big time win over a big time foe. Stanford has to be careful about this one, as its offense isn’t going to be able to win this game by itself unless it is virtually a perfect day. QB Andrew Luck is capable of doing just that, but he doesn’t play defense. Look for the Huskies to bring this one down to the wire to make the Cardinal sweat, and in the end, both teams will be comfortably into the 30s.

Week 8 NCAA Football Pick: Washington +20 & Washington/Stanford Over 63

Week 8 College Football Matchup: Wisconsin Badgers @ Michigan State Spartans
Date: Saturday, October 22nd, 8:00 ET
Location: Spartan Stadium, East Lansing, MI
College Football Lines: Wisconsin -7.5
Over/Under 49.5
Week 8 College Football TV Schedule: ABC

And now comes arguably the hardest question to answer all day long. Do you, or do you not believe in the Badgers? If the computers are right about Wisconsin, Michigan State has a real chance to win this game. The Spartans have a nasty defense which went into Ohio State and totally shut down the Buckeyes and was able to contain QB Denard Robinson and single handedly derail his Heisman Trophy campaign last week. If the computers are wrong, State will get squashed. When RB Montee Ball and QB Russell Wilson get rolling, it’s almost like a freight train running downhill. We fully believe in the Badgers and buy what they are selling. Bucky will have a big smile on his face back in Madison when this one is over with, while Sparty gets ready for another college basketball season.

Week 8 NCAA Football Pick: Wisconsin -7.5
