The final week of the NCAA football betting campaign kicks off on Thursday night, and it all starts with a Big East battle with a lot on the line between the West Virginia Mountaineers and the South Florida Bulls.

The Bulls and the Mountaineers have themselves a heck of a lot on the line on Thursday night. For West Virginia, the prize could be a spot in the BCS. A win, and the possibility remains to go to the Orange Bowl against the ACC winner. A loss, and it’s off to a significantly lesser bowl game. For South Florida, the prize for a victory would be the right to go bowling. USF will likely end up in its own bowl game in St. Petersburg, which might not be the greatest bowl destination in the world, but any bowl destination is a heck of a lot better than no destination whatsoever.

South Florida’s pass defense is going to be tested in a big time way against QB Geno Smith, who is going to likely reach the 4,000 yard passing barrier by the end of this game. Meanwhile, the Bulls are going to hope to get QB BJ Daniels back under center, as the offense has just gone nowhere quickly with QB Bobby Eveld calling the shots.

Neither of these teams have played good ball in their last several games. West Virginia has won two games in a row, but a one point win over the Pitt Panthers and a three point win against the Cincinnati Bearcats without QB Zach Collaros aren’t all that impressive. The game before was the loss to the Louisville Cardinals that put them behind the 8-ball in the Big East title race. South Florida meanwhile, only has one win since September 24th, and it has some ugly losses in the bunch. However, there is only one defeat that is by more than 10 points, and three of the defeats have come by a field goal. That being said, the Mountaineers haven’t won a game in this series on the road since the first clash in 2005. With a bowl game on the line, we tend to think that the Bulls are going to head bowling.

Week 14 NCAA Football Pick: South Florida +1.5
