Week 5 College Football Picks: Penn State Nittany Lions @ Illinois Fighting Illini
Date: Saturday, September 29th, 12:00 ET
Location: Memorial Stadium, Champaign, IL
CFB Betting Odds: Penn State -1
Penn State vs. Illinois Live TV: ESPN2

Why the Nittany Lions are on TV every single week is beyond is, but they are, and we’re stuck with it. The bottom line with these two teams is that they have just no offensive skills whatsoever. The two clubs are averaging a combined 723 yards per game this year, and there is just zero confidence whatsoever in either team’s abilities to get up and down the field. Why the ‘total’ in this game is in the 40s and not the 30s is beyond us. Penn State hasn’t scored more than 34 on anyone in this year and hasn’t had a game with more than 41 combined points in it on the campaign. The Illini have played some higher scoring games, but all of the offenses that they have run across (except for that of Charleston Southern) are a heck of a lot better than that of PSU. There’s a reason that there were a total of 17 points in last year’s meeting between these two.

Penn State @ Illinois Pick: Penn State/Illinois Under 42.5
Penn State @ Illinois Score Prediction: Illinois 21 – Penn State 14
