Rice vs. Texas A&M Live TV Coverage: ESPN
About the only reason that ESPN is going to be at this game on Saturday is because everyone is going to be all over QB Johnny Manziel. Manziel of course, is going to be sat out of the first half of this game against the Owls after getting kinda sorta busted by the NCAA for taking money for signing autographs. Take that all for what it’s worth… Anyway it’s clear that A&M has the superior side in this game, but is the team really good enough to continue to rock and roll with Manziel sitting on the sidelines suspended?
The bottom line here is that we have to think so. Remember that this isn’t just a one-man team. The offensive line is going to be one of the most dominating in the SEC, and the defense came up with the plays that it needed to make to win a lot of the big time games last season. There weren’t many outings in which that side of the ball really let the Aggies down last year, and we have to think that this won’t be an exception to that rule. Many feel as though the Rice offense is going to put up points in bunches, but we just don’t see it. In the second half when Manziel is in there, we have to think that he is going to just continue to run offense over the course of at least three or four drives, and in all likelihood, that means three or four touchdowns. The Owls don’t have the answers defensively, and they won’t have those answers even with Manziel not out there for the first 30 minutes. This is an easy one on Saturday.
