Week 1 College Football Picks: Southern Miss Golden Eagles @ Nebraska Cornhuskers
Date: Saturday, September 1st, 3:30 ET
Location: Memorial Stadium, Lincoln, NE
CFB Betting Odds: Nebraska -19.5
Southern Mississippi vs. Nebraska Live TV: ABC OR ESPN2

It just isn’t going to be a pretty start to the season for the Golden Eagles. Virtually everything has changed about their offense, and they are losing Head Coach Larry Fedora as well. The Cornhuskers are eager to prove that they have their legs ready to go for the 2012 season, and both QB Taylor Martinez and RB Rex Burkhead should get off to good starts. If Southern Mississippi is contending in this game, it is doing so with its defense, not with its offense. We think that backing Nebraska is a great play laying 20, but in the end, we just don’t know if the Golden Eagles are going to be able to generate enough points to get this one past the ‘total’. In this case, we are going to put together a teaser that we think is quite correlated, as it is really a bet against the Southern Miss offense more than anything else.

Southern Mississippi @ Nebraska Pick: Nebraska -12.5 w/ Under 60
Southern Mississippi @ Nebraska Score Prediction: Nebraska 34 – Southern Mississippi 13
