Thursday NCAA Football Analysis: The Stanford Cardinals handed Oregon QB Marcus Mariota the only loss of his career in Eugene last year, 17-14.  This year’s match up of the last four conference champions is under similar circumstances.  Oregon’s offense is possibly the best in the country, second in rushing yards and they’ve covered giant spreads against good teams all season long.  This game opened with Oregon -7 and has steadily moved up to -10 and higher with every sports bettor in the country expecting Oregon to come out mad and avenge last year’s loss.  Oregon has only really beaten one quality team on the road in Washington while Stanford has beaten three at home in Washington, Arizona State and UCLA.  Stanford’s defense has proven they’re up to the task.  They have held UCLA and Oregon State, two very solid offenses to a combined 22 points in their last two wins and they have proven they can stop Oregon too.   Mariota is going to have to throw the ball to be effective, the Stanford size on the defensive line will get pressure throughout the game and keep Mariota from getting outside of the pocket.  He should be depending more on his receivers and less on his feet if his team is going score more than the 17 points they did last season.  A football game is 60 minutes long and you can’t expect the motivation of last year’s loss to play a factor for the entire game.  The power run game of senior RB Tyler Gaffney behind the big Stanford offensive line will keep Mariota off the field and wear down the Oregon defensive front over the course of the game.  We’ve fallen victim to the “anti-public” bet against Oregon already this season, but 10 points in a game that is this important we have to go with the sixth ranked 10 point home dog and hope their defense is up to the task.
Oregon at Stanford Free NCAA Football Picks: Stanford +10 and under 61.5
Oregon at Stanford Game Prediction: 28-27 Oregon
What to expect in this week 11 NCAA Football match up: The Stanford offense will not have much success early in the game as they try to run the ball against a fresh Oregon defensive front.  Oregon coming off a bye will have a few plays up their sleeves and get out to an early lead but Stanford will wear them down.  They are much bigger and stronger in the trenches and their defensive front will get pressure in the second half while Gaffney will gash the Oregon defense for big plays once the game settles in.   Oregon’s Marcus Mariota will secure his place as the Heisman Trophy front runner with a last minute, game winning drive in the best game of this college football season to this point.
