Ah, the infamous degenerate special is back, and once again, everyone is going to be betting against Hawaii. The Warriors remain a wreck, and there is no way that they are going to win this game against the talent that the Trojans are bringing to the table. But is USC overrated at this point? We are beginning to think that they are, especially if they are really going to go with some combination of QB Max Wittek and QB Cody Kessler at quarterback. We just don’t buy the quarterback rotation, and the fact of the matter is that neither one is as good as QB Matt Barkley was, which is why the Men of Troy perhaps could have some troubles finding the end zone.
With a brutal offensive line in place, it’s going to be tough to see how Hawaii is going to score all that many points. That being said, USC scored just 20 total points in its last two games last season, while the Warriors at least closed out the season with a pair of wins that could help bolster the program. In the end, 24 is a heck of a lot of points, and though we do think that things are going to be a little better for USC (and we are always afraid of Head Coach Lane Kiffin running up the score as he likes to do in games like these), we don’t think that this is a spot where the Men of Troy are scoring enough to cover the number. If Hawaii can get to just 14, we’re satisfied that they will cover in spite of the fact that their average loss last year came by over 31 points per game.
USC vs. Hawaii Pick: Hawaii Warriors +24
