NFL Thursday Night Week 10 Preview: The Washington Redskins are looking for some consistency, especially from quarterback Robert Griffin III, as they head to Minnesota to try to hand them their fifth loss of the season.  Washington hopes Sunday’s 30-24 overtime victory will get them going in the right direction in the NFC East where they trail both Dallas and Philadelphia.  When the Redskins are playing well they’re running the ball effectively on the early downs to get a third and short where Robert Griffin can use his arm or his legs.  In their victories the Redskins convert almost 60% of their third downs while only 35% in their losses.  RB Alfred Morris has been steadily improving as the season goes on averaging almost 100 yards over his last four games and they will need him to take some of the pressure off of Griffin and limit the turnovers.  The Minnesota Vikings look like they’re going to stick with QB Christian Ponder after nearly pulling off a big upset in Dallas last Sunday but falling short in the last two minutes and losing 28-24, their fifth in a row.  The quarterback carousel in Minnesota has been one of the biggest reasons for their down season.  They’ve used 3 different quarterbacks over 9 games and none of them have done the job effectively.  Christian Ponder gets the job by default and has turned the ball over six times in his five losses.  He will also be without TE Kyle Rudolph who broke his foot against Dallas and has proven to be one of Ponder’s favorite red zone targets.  Minnesota doesn’t have anything going for them right now aside from RB Adrian Peterson, but stopping the run is one of Washington’s only strengths defensively.  These two teams are heading in opposite directions at this point in the season.  We are expecting Washington to improve over the second half while Minnesota just doesn’t have the quarterback play to score enough points to compete with Washington in this game.
Redskins at Vikings Free NFL Picks: Redskins -2.5 and over 49.5
Redskins at Vikings Game Prediction: 31-21 Redskins
What to expect in this week 10 NFL match up:
Washington will have their way with the Minnesota defense that doesn’t have the line backing core you need to slow down Griffin and Morris.  This will set up deep play action passes against an even weaker secondary and allow Washington to march up and down the field.  Minnesota’s ineffectiveness passing the ball will make the below average Washington secondary look good.  Adrian Peterson won’t get the ball enough to score enough points for Minnesota to keep this game close and this game will be over by the fourth quarter.
