Bears @ Lions On TV: FOX
There is a real question as to how good either the Bears or the Lions really are at this point. We know that Chicago has really been helped out by its three defensive touchdowns, but we also know that the Lions have played against three teams who have a combined record of 1-8 to this point in the season. The offense for the Bears has been efficient, but it clearly isn’t all that deep, and QB Jay Cutler still turns the ball over far too often for his own good. If RB Matt Forte is slowed down, both as a rusher and as a receiver, the Chicago offense doesn’t have a whole heck of a lot to work with, and that could be a problem knowing that the key to this Lions defense is the speed and athleticism of its front seven.
Here’s the question for the Lions, though. Can QB Matt Stafford really get this defense going full bore for the full 60 minutes at home against one of the best defenses in the league? Last year, Detroit only managed 327 and 340 yards in the two games against the Bears, and though teams have moved the ball on Chicago this year, it has only allowed 20.0 defensive points per game. The makings are there for this to be Detroit’s time to shine, especially with RB Reggie Bush back in the fold making a nasty tandem of backs with RB Joique Bell. The Lions weren’t good last year in games where they didn’t have WR Nate Burleson, but we have confidence that WR Ryan Broyles is going to be able to step into that starting role and hold down the fort. If that happens and it forces some of the coverage away from WR Calvin Johnson, the Megatron could be sounding off once again towards a huge Lions victory come Sunday.
Bears @ Lions Pick: Detroit Lions -2.5
