Week 4 Betting Odds: Cincinnati -1

This is going to be an odd game in Week 4. The Bengals are clearly the better of these two teams, but they have to come on the road, where they haven’t had a heck of a lot of success in recent years. We’ve talked about this trend where the Bengals have beaten the last 13 teams that they have played that haven’t gotten into the playoffs and have lost their last 13 games against teams that have gotten into the playoffs (assuming that Baltimore gets in this year and neither Cleveland nor Washington do this year), but that trend might come to a close in this one. The Jaguars are certainly not a playoff team, they certainly don’t have the better defense, and they absolutely certainly don’t have the better quarterback in spite of the fact that they took QB Blaine Gabbert 25 picks before the Bengals took QB Andy Dalton two NFL Drafts ago. However, what they do have is RB Maurice Jones-Drew who, for our money, is the best back in the league. And what the Bengals do have is the second worst rush defense in the NFL. This just isn’t a good formula for success. Jacksonville, at home with just 28% of the betting public on its side, scores the mild upset.

Bengals @ Jaguars Pick: Jacksonville Jaguars +1
Bengals @ Jaguars Score Prediction: Jacksonville 23 – Cincinnati 20
