Had you told us last year at this time that this game was going to be played and without any quarterback injuries of note that the game was going to be QB EJ Manuel against QB Brian Hoyer, we probably would have laughed at you. Alas, that’s where we are at, and that’s what this game is going to be like, and as a result, we have gone back and forth all week as to where this game was going to end up. In the end, we’re going to go with Hoyer and the Browns, but it’s more because of the Cleveland defense than anything else. The Browns love to get after the passer, and we know that Manuel has a tendency at this point in his young career to hold the ball too long and take sacks. If he is doing that on Thursday on a short week of preparation, he could find himself picking himself up off of the turf more often than not.
It’s also hard to ignore the fact that this Cleveland offense has been darn efficient over the course of the last few weeks with Hoyer calling the shots. TE Jordan Cameron is turning into one of the best red zone threats in the game, and that’s really keeping this unit moving all game long and capitalizing on the opportunities that it gets. Look for the Browns to capitalize on just a few more opportunities than what Buffalo will capitalize on in this game, and in the end, that will be the difference in what should be a matchup that is a lot better than it originally seemed to be at the start of the year. The Browns(!!!) will go to bed tonight in first place in the AFC North.(!!!)
Bills @ Browns Pick: Cleveland Browns -3.5
Bills @ Browns Score Prediction: Browns 24 – Bills 17
