Giants at Lions Monday Night NFL Football Analysis: The New York Giants started the 2013 season on a six game skid, keeping them from the post season while the Detroit Lions ended their 2013 campaign on a seven game skid to do the same. The Giants have made big changes and the Lions return their offensive weapons, but few are predicting big things for either team in 2014 as they open their seasons at Ford Field on Monday night. The Giants stumbled early and often last season with turnovers, mistakes and poor offensive play. They were the most turnover prone team in the NFL and ranked 28th in points scored before finishing the season on a 7-3 run but it was too little too late. This led to a boatload of changes in the offseason for New York. Longtime offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride retired and the team hired first time offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo away from Green Bay to install his West Coast system. The team also went heavy on free agents to fortify the offensive line, which performed miserably in 2013, and upgrade the defense. Eli Manning, who had a career high 27 interceptions last season has looked completely out of sync with receivers Victor Cruz and Rueben Randle throughout the preseason and he has failed to adapt to the first change in offenses in his career. Receiver Odell Beckham Jr., New York’s first round draft pick has been injured all preseason and won’t play Monday night. On the other side of the football, the Lions picked up receiver Golden Tate from Seattle to play alongside Calvin Johnson and resigned RB Joique Bell to run in tandem with Reggie Bush in what should be one of the better passing offenses in the NFL this season. If Detroit’s front four can give the Giants’ offensive line major problems with Ndamukong Suh, Nick Fairley and Ziggy Ansah they will run away this this game as the Giants don’t have the defense to keep their team in this one. The Giants look to be regressing offensively and at Ford Field on Monday night isn’t a good place to start a new offensive scheme.

Indianapolis Colts at Denver Broncos Game Prediction: 30-20 Lions
What to expect in this Week 1 NFL Football match up: The Lions offense will look good, getting production from both the running and passing games and limiting their turnovers. The new coaching regime in Detroit behind head coach Jim Caldwell will help limit the turnovers and costly penalties that have haunted this team in recent years and they will be a much more consistent team to start the 2014 season. Eli Manning will have a rough game, being hit and forced into bad decisions early and often. Without the support of a strong running game, the Giants won’t score enough points to keep this game close in the fourth quarter.
