Pittsburgh Steelers at Carolina Panthers Sunday NFL Football Analysis: The 2-0 Carolina Panthers have managed to keep their focus on football despite the ongoing Greg Hardy saga, which will hopefully no longer be a distraction. The Panthers have removed Hardy from the active roster ahead of Sunday night’s showdown with the visiting Pittsburgh Steelers who are looking to bounce back from a bad week 2 loss.  Carolina announced the decision Wednesday to place Hardy on the exempt commissioner’s permission list. He was convicted July 15 of assault on a female and communicating threats after the victim claimed the Hardy threw her in the bathtub and onto a sofa covered with guns before threatening to kill her.  The Panthers didn’t miss a beat without Hardy last week, forcing three turnovers for the second consecutive game. They’ve recorded seven sacks, tied for fourth most in the NFL.  The All Pro defensive tackle won’t be playing any more football for the foreseeable future and now the Panthers can focus on winning the NFC South.  Cam Newton sat out Carolina’s season opening 20-14 road win over Tampa Bay with a rib injury, before going 22 of 34 for 281 yards and a touchdown in last Sunday’s 24-7 victory over Detroit.  He showed no ill effects from the rib injury and looked strong against a very week Lions secondary. The Panthers haven’t opened 3-0 since winning their first five games in 2003, when they went on to make their only Super Bowl appearance.  On the other side of the football Pittsburgh has allowed 712 yards of offense in its two games and been outscored 50-9 over its last six quarters. The Steelers were called for nine more penalties against the Ravens, giving them 20 for 171 yards on the season.  While the Steelers are among three teams that haven’t forced a turnover, the Panthers are one of four yet to commit one.  Le’Veon Bell has proved to be a rare bright spot for Pittsburgh with 5.3 yards per carry. His 304 yards from scrimmage rank second in the league, but finding room to run could be difficult against a Panthers team allowing 86.0 rushing yards per game.  Only three teams have surrendered more than Pittsburgh’s 340 yards on the ground.  This game is a terrible matchup for the Steelers, they excel where Carolina does and their weakness play to Carolina’s strengths.  The Steelers like to run the ball, Carolina stops the run.  Pittsburgh has problems with turnovers, Carolina has forced 6 of them and given away zero.  Pittsburgh commits too many penalties, Carolina commits only 6 per game.  This could be a long game on Sunday Night for Steeler Nation on national TV.

Sunday NFL Week 3 Pittsburgh Steelers at Carolina Panthers Free Picks: Carolina Panthers -3 and under 42

Pittsburgh Steelers at Carolina Panthers  Game Prediction: 27-13 Carolina Panthers

What to expect in this Week 3 NFL Football match up: It’s going to take a very high powered offense to score points against the Carolina defense and the Steelers have proven so far in 2014 that they aren’t it.  The Steelers are only averaging 18 points per game through two games and it’s hard to see them passing that number in this contest.  This will be a hard hitting, grind it out kind of game but Carolina’s drive’s will end in the red zone with touchdowns and field goals while Pittsburgh’s drives will struggle to even get started.  The Steelers offense isn’t enough to compete in this game and it will show as Carolina’s defense will lock them down from start to finish.
