Washington Redskins at Philadelphia Eagles Sunday NFL Football Analysis: In 2012 the Washington Redskins spent their first round draft pick on quarterback Robert Griffin III, then came back with another quarterback, Kirk Cousins, in the fourth round. The importance of the Cousins pick grows with each week as Griffin’s latest injury will put Cousins in line for the majority of the teams quarterbacking duties this season. Cousins will start his fifth NFL game Sunday in Philadelphia as the Eagles try for their first 3-0 start since 2004. Griffin is out indefinitely after dislocating his ankle in last Sunday’s 41-10 win over Jacksonville, which also saw wide receiver DeSean Jackson leave with a sprained shoulder though he is expected to play on Sunday. After Griffin’s early exit, Cousins went 22 of 33 for 250 yards with two touchdowns despite being without Jackson and tight end Jordan Reed. After putting up promising rookie numbers, Cousins took a step back last season, completing just 52.3 percent of his passes with four touchdowns and seven interceptions in three starts and two relief efforts. All three starts ended in losses, though Washington’s playoff hopes had already slipped away. The Eagles biggest problem through their first two wins has been not showing up for the first half. A 30-27 last second win in Indianapolis last Sunday made Philadelphia the first team in NFL history to overcome double digit halftime deficits in a 2-0 start. Nick Foles has led both comebacks with the latest being a 21/37 effort with 331 yards, though he threw his second interception to match his 13 game total from last season. The Eagles are 9-1 in regular season games since Nov. 3, averaging NFL bests of 33.0 points and 437.7 total yards. While they’re 5-0 at home in that span, Washington has dropped seven straight on the road. These are two teams heading in opposite directions and it is no secret that the Eagles are the class of the NFC East, they will prove it by marching up and down the field on the weak Redskins defense and with a few untimely turnovers from Kirk Cousins they will win their first divisional game of the season going away.

Washington Redskins at Philadelphia Eagles Game Prediction: 27-17 Eagles
What to expect in this Week 3 NFL Football match up: The Philadelphia Eagles will do something they have yet to do this season, play two good halves. They will use the run to set up the pass early in the game and build a big lead before letting LeSean McCoy take the game over in the second half. The Redskins defense looks decent on paper, but games against Houston and Jacksonville’s weak offenses has made them look better than they really are. The Eagles are very strong against the run and weaker against the pass but that is the opposite of what Washington wants to do offensively. This game is a bad match up for the Redskins and it will show on the scoreboard.
