Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears

Game Line: Green Bay Packers -1.5 (from WagerWeb)
Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears Sunday NFL Football Analysis: Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers were on the brink of playoff elimination against the Chicago Bears in week 17 of last season. Instead, Rodgers delivered a 48 yard touchdown on fourth down and 8 to give Green Bay a 33-28 win and their fourth consecutive NFC North title. Things haven’t been going as well for the Packers ever since. Rodgers and the Packers have some early ground to make up after starting 1-2, and they were largely ineffective offensively in their 19-7 loss at Detroit last Sunday. Green Bay was held scoreless in the final three quarters and finished with 223 yards, its second lowest total in the last six seasons. Rodgers had 162 for his second fewest in any game that he’s been healthy. The Packers also allowed a 40 yard fumble return for a touchdown and a safety. Hopefully things will open up for the Packers against a Bears defense that’s dealt with a bunch of injuries, despite pulling out a 27-19 win on Monday Night football. Safety Chris Conte, defensive lineman Jeremiah Ratliff, linebacker Shea McClellin and corner Charles Tillman are all highly questionable for this contest for the Bears defense. Coach Marc Trestman is also not optimistic that center Roberto Garza, left guard Matt Slauson and fullback Tony Fiammetta will suit up on the other side of the football. This rash of injuries makes Chicago one of the most injured teams in the league and while they’re relatively healthy at the skill positions, the trenches are going to be a big hole for the Bears this weekend. The Bears have lost seven of eight in the NFL’s longest-running rivalry, including the NFC championship game in January 2011, but earned that lone win in Trestman’s first matchup Nov. 4. The laundry list of injury concerns for the Bears combined with the need to win now mentality for the Packers has us believing that Aaron Rodgers and company will turn it around in the NFL’s longest standing rivalry.

Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears Game Prediction: 28-24 Packers
What to expect in this Week 4 NFL Football match up: The Green Bay offense will rebound nicely against a Chicago defense that is mediocre when healthy, less than mediocre in their current state. Aaron Rodgers will be able to move the ball up and down the field and the Packers won’t stay dedicated to the running game like they did last weekend in Detroit. Chicago will try to establish Matt Forte early and often but against the quick strike Packers attack they will have to abandon the running game and rely on Jay Cutler who has thrown more interceptions against the Packers than any other team.
