Chicago Bears at Carolina Panthers Sunday NFL Football Analysis: The Chicago Bears have been much better on the road than at home this season, 2-0 on the road and 0-2 at home. They will travel to Carolina to try to hand the Carolina Panthers their third straight defeat. The Bears allowed Aaron Rodgers to throw for 300 yards and four touchdowns in a 38-17 home loss to the Packers. Jay Cutler has been the poster boy for the Bears inconsistency. He’s completed 67.5 percent of his passes in two home games but has thrown four touchdowns and four interceptions while posting an 84.7 rating. On the road, Cutler has a 63.9 completion percentage but has thrown six TDs without a pick for a 106.3 rating. The Bears could be in for continued ground success against a Panthers team that ranks 27th in the league with 140.8 rushing yards allowed per contest. Carolina ranked second at 86.9 last season. Matt Forte gained 122 yards on 23 carries against the Packers after being held to 136 on 42 attempts in the first three games. The Panthers have allowed 75 points the last two weeks after yielding 21 over the first two. They gave up an average of 201.7 passing yards in the first three games before Joe Flacco threw for 327 in last week’s 38-10 loss at Baltimore. Getting the pass defense back on track might be difficult against a Bears team that boasts three players with at least 20 receptions including tight end Martellus Bennett who leads the team with 29 catches, 300 yards and four touchdowns. Though Chicago’s beat up defense held the Packers to 56 rushing yards, it gave up at least 300 through the air for the second straight contest. With Jared Allen sidelined with pneumonia the Bears had one sack and struggled to pressure Rodgers after recording seven total sacks against the 49ers and Jets. The Panthers could have a hard time running the ball with DeAngelo Williams and Jonathon Stewart both dealing with injuries. This version of the Panthers defense isn’t as strong as the 2013 edition and with a running game that’s lacking and Cam Newton who hasn’t been healthy all season long, this matchup favors the Bears on the road.

Chicago Bears at Carolina Panthers Game Prediction: 26-21 Bears
What to expect in this Week 5 NFL Football match up: The Chicago Bears unhealthy defense gets a break this week after playing the Packers last weekend. Even without their starting safety or linebacker, the Bears will have enough to contain the very weak Carolina offense. Cam Newton is the only playmaker that is healthy, their receivers have been lacking all season and their running backs can’t stay healthy. Combine that with a defense that isn’t as strong as they were last season and this Panther team has been over rated from the beginning of the season.
