Arizona Cardinals at Denver Broncos Sunday NFL Football Analysis: The Denver Broncos and Arizona Cardinals enter their week 5 matchup following their bye weeks. While the Broncos have had plenty of time to think about losing their Super Bowl rematch, the unbeaten Cardinals are hoping to pick up where they left off Sunday when they visit Mile High Stadium.  Denver held on for seven point wins over Indianapolis and Kansas City before suffering a 26-20 overtime loss at Seattle in Week 3.  Things won’t get much easier for the Denver offense, playing their second elite level defense in back to back games against the Cardinals.  Arizona is on the verge of opening 4-0 for the second time in three seasons despite playing back to back games without starting quarterback Carson Palmer.  Palmer will be held out again due to a damaged nerve in his throwing shoulder.  Backup Drew Stanton has filled in nicely, completing 52% of his passes without a turnover including a big road in in San Francisco in week three.  Arizona is tied for second in the NFL with 15.0 points allowed per game and are especially stingy against the run allowing just 2.9 yards per carry, third in the NFL.  That doesn’t bode well for Montee Ball and the Broncos’ 27th ranked rushing attack at 75.3 yards per game.  The Broncos rand the ball 20 times for just 36 yards against the Seahawks.  The Broncos rank 27th in total defense allowing 390 yards per game but they should get Danny Trevathan back after fracturing his leg in practice in the preseason.  He was the leading tackler last season and will provide a boost to a defensive front that could definitely use it.  Manning is one touchdown pass away from becoming the second player to reach 500 and stands nine behind Brett Favre for the all-time record. He’s thrown 55 TDs and eight interceptions in 18 regular-season home games with the Broncos, going 16-2.  He will need to break that 500 TD plateau in this game if the Broncos are going to win because their run game will be completely negated by the Arizona defense.

Arizona Cardinals at Denver Broncos Game Prediction: 27-24 Broncos

What to expect in this Week 5 NFL Football match up: The key to this game will be the Arizona secondary against Peyton Manning and the Bronco passing attack.  Arizona will run the ball effectively to keep the Bronco offense on the sideline, and they should have little trouble shutting down the Bronco’s below average rushing attack but they’re going to have to limit Manning’s big plays down the field if they’re going to stay in this game.  Stanton will continue to manage the game and limit his turnovers and the Cardinals defensive backfield will do just enough to cover this spread, but not enough to get a big road win at Mile High.
