Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys Thursday NFL Football Analysis: The Philadelphia Eagles take on the Dallas Cowboys from AT&T Stadium in Arlington Texas in a Thanksgiving Day NFC East showdown.
The Eagles are coming off a rather easy 43–24 win over the Tennessee Titans. Mark Sanchez completed 30 of 43 pass attempts for one touchdown and two interceptions. The running game finally got going after they had struggled to get it going in the previous few games. Running back LeSean McCoy carried the ball 21 times for 131 yards and one score. Jordan Matthews and Jeremy Macklin both contributed in the passing game with six receptions apiece. The Philadelphia pass rush was once again dominant sacking Tennessee quarterback Zack Mettenberger five times with Trent Cole and Connor Barwin getting with two sacks apiece.
The Dallas Cowboys are coming off a 31–28 come from behind win over the New York Giants on Sunday night. The Cowboys outscored the Giants 21–7 in the second half en route to the victory. Tony Romo was quite effective completing a team of his 26 pass attempts for 275 yards and 4 touchdowns. Wide receiver Dez Bryant led all receivers with seven receptions for 86 yards and two touchdowns, one of those being a 13 yard touchdown pass in the final minute to seal the win. Running back to Marco Murray continued his solid 2014 campaign with 121 yards rushing averaging 5 yards per carry.
Dallas is at a slight disadvantage in this one, with playing on Sunday night on the road against a division rival. Philadelphia on the other hand, played a home game so in terms of travel I don’t give Dallas that much of an edge. Philadelphia’s ability to get to the quarterback has contributed to the team’s success as of late. The great pass rush of the Eagles might not have as much success against the league’s most elite offensive line. The Eagles defense has been exposed at times this year, and they’ve struggled to stop the run. Mark Sanchez is 2–1 as the starter this season, but his stats are not blowing people away. I see a lot of points in this game, but ultimately I have to give the edge to the home team who has the better offense of line and can control the tempo of the game. I think Dallas wins this one, playing on Thanksgiving day is nothing new to this team and as far as preparation is concerned, I give the edge to the Cowboys.
