Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys Thursday NFL Football Analysis: One of the NFL’s fiercest rivalries will take center stage on Thanksgiving night when the Seattle Seahawks take on the San Francisco 49ers from Levi’s stadium in Santa Clara, California.
The Seattle Seahawks are coming off their biggest win of the season thus far. The Seahawks dominated the Arizona Cardinals at home in a 19–3 victory that was indeed a defensive struggle. Russell Wilson what’s efficient completing 17 of 22 pass attempts for 211 yards with one touchdown too tight end Cooper Helfet. Marshawn Lynch was ineffective throughout the game with only 39 rushing yards on 15 carries. The Seattle pass rush finally got it going with three sacks of quarterback Drew Stanton, as Cliff Avril led the way with two sacks. All in all it was Seattle’s best defense effort in quite some time.
San Francisco is coming off a 17–13 win over Washington. It was the 49ers’ third straight win after getting road victories over New Orleans and the New York Giants. The 49ers defense was quite effective sacking quarterback Robert Griffin III 5 times and allowing just 106 yards passing. The defense was dealt a major blow this season with linebacker Patrick Willis being put on injured reserve with a toe injury. However linebacker Chris Borland has filled in and done an admirable job, with 49 tackles this season. Quarterback Colin Kaepernick completed 20 of 29 pass attempts for 256 yards and 1 touchdown with 1 interception. Wide receiver Anquan Boldin was the difference maker, with nine receptions for 137 yards and a score.
I think we’re getting a little bit of line value here, and with San Francisco playing with playoff revenge I really like the 49ers in this spot. Seattle has yet to be effective in terms of the passing game, and I think San Francisco can key on containing Marshawn Lynch. Russell Wilson will be a threat in terms of running the ball, but the 49ers have the athletes on defense to contain him to some degree. With Seattle getting such a big win last Sunday, I don’t feel that they will bring the same intensity on Thursday night. The 49ers remember the NFC championship game all too well, and I think they have the offensive weapons and a deep backfield with Frank Gore and Carlos Hyde to attack a Seattle defense that’s definitely not what it was. I think the 49ers win and get a little payback for their loss last January.
