Thursday Night NFL Football Analysis: The Washignton Redskins might be the most injured team in the NFL heading into a Thursday Night showdown on a short week. They came out of Sunday’s 37-34 loss at Philadelphia with corner DeAngelo Hall and safety Duke Thenacho out for the season and linebackers Brian Orakpo and Jason Hunter also highly questionable heading into this contest. After the Redskins afternoon walkthrough on Monday night they listed 17 players, almost a third of their roster on the injury report. New York seems to be healthier after earning its first victory, 30-17 over Houston on Sunday. That doesn’t mean the Giants’ preparation for Thursday will be ideal. A big edge for the Giants is they’ve been through this process three times under coach Tom Coughlin while the Redskins younger coaching staff might not have a set routine. There were finally a few bright spots for the Giants at home against the Texans last weekend. Rashad Jennings had a career high 176 yards on the ground and Manning was 21 for 28 with two touchdowns and no interceptions. Jameel McClain had a team high 11 tackles filling in a middle linebacker for Jon Beason who might not play again this week. The biggest bright spot for the Giants was the play of the offensive line, which held J.J. Watt and company to just one sack and opened up huge holes for Jennings throughout the game. If they can perform that well on the road in this contest, the Giants offense will be effective for the second straight week. On the other side of the ball, it seems to be the defense that has let Kirk Cousins down when he quarterbacks the Washington Redskins. He was 30 of 48 for 427 yards and three scores on Sunday, his second solid start but the Redskins have dropped four in a row behind Cousins because they can’t keep the opponent out of the end zone. Combine that with an already injured defense and a short week to prepare under a new coaching regime and it could spell bad news for the Redskins on Thursday Night Football.

New York Giants at Washington Redskins Game Prediction: 28-24 Giants
What to expect in this Week 4 NFL Football match up: On paper, with both teams completely healthy, the Redskins are a better team especially playing at home. There are just too many things going against the Redskins heading into this game between the injuries all over the field, the short week to prepare for a defense that is already struggling. Meanwhile the Giants got their first win of the season and look like they’ve found an identity with the pounding run attack and short passing game. These just look like two teams heading in opposite directions and it’s hard to pick Kirk Cousins to get his first NFL win under these circumstances.
