This is a game that the Giants absolutely have to win if they are going to be serious about playing for a Super Bowl this year. They were beaten by the Broncos and the Cowboys in consecutive weeks, and though that isn’t the end of the world, we know that there wasn’t a team all of last season that made the playoffs after starting 0-2. The problem is that the team just doesn’t have anything whatsoever going on the ground, and that isn’t going to cut it in spite of the fact that the team ranks #1 in the league in passing offense at nearly 400 yards per game. Head Coach Tom Coughlin is going to kill QB Eli Manning if he keeps throwing picks, as he already has seven, and the team has 10 turnovers already in two games.
Though we know that the Panthers can do some damage, they haven’t been able to finish off games late either. QB Cam Newton and Head Coach Ron Rivera really need to figure out how to win games late on. Newton hasn’t really been able to take off on the ground yet this year, and it is making this offense look rather ordinary at times. Last season, this wasn’t a game that was very close at all, as these two sides ended up being nowhere near in a 36-7 triumph for the G-Men. If the Giants can figure out how to slow Newton down and keep control of the football, they are going to end up being just fine in the end of the game in this one.
Giants @ Panthers Pick: New York Giants +1.5
