The Patriots came out of the blocks with some major problems in Week 1, as they were pushed by the Bills in a game that they had to scrap and claw just to win. Meanwhile, QB Geno Smith knew that he was in a heck of a lot of trouble from the get go against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That said, Smith found a way to rally the troops, thanks a lot in part to his defense, which guided the team to what figures to be a relatively rare ‘W’ in the opener. We tend to think that we are going to see more of the same in this one, and we definitely don’t want any part of the Pats at this point. Perhaps if TE Rob Gronkowski ends up playing, we might feel a little bit different, as we felt like New England left a lot of points on the board over the course of the first week of the season, but in all likelihood, the team is going to be smart with him and sit him down for one more week.

The bottom line is that QB Tom Brady just isn’t the same man right now with this set of receivers. We do like WR Danny Amendola and WR Julian Edelman, but where are the rest of the targets going? That’s what we really aren’t all that sure of at this point. WR Kenbrell Thompkins looks like the moment is just too big for him, as he was dropping passes left and right. That’s not to say that we think that the Jets are going to come out and win this game, as going on the road is just far too much to ask Smith to do right away. However, we do think that a 1-3 ATS skid is going to come to a close for New York in this one. The Jets will cover a second straight game.
