Last week, the Lions might have given up a bunch of points, but they also might have figured out what the real key was to beating the Vikings. They stacked the box against RB Adrian Peterson with eight men, and though they did give up the home run at the start of the game that went for 78 yards, they also held him down to just 15 yards for the rest of the game. Minnesota only averaged 4.85 yards per play for the rest of the game after that first play from scrimmage. The offense clearly has some big time problems with QB Christian Ponder calling the shots, and now, there is an even better defense that is waiting in the wings here in the Windy City.
Chicago’s problem last week was trying to figure out how to slow down WR AJ Green. He rolled off nine catches for 162 yards and two TDs in Week 1, and the only thing that kept the Bears in a position to ultimately win the game was the fact that the Bengals managed just 63 yards on 21 carries as a team. LB Brian Urlacher isn’t there any longer, but this is a team that is going to end up doing some damage this year defensively anyway. Last season, these two teams split the games, but QB Jay Cutler was injured in the loss. In two games, Ponder threw for under 270 yards combined against this defense. If that’s what’s going to happen again in this one, the Bears are going to waltz to an easy two score victory.
Vikings @ Bears Pick: Chicago Bears -5.5
Vikings @ Bears Score Prediction: Chicago 28 – Minnesota 14
