A pair of NFC rivals who are hoping to make a stink in the postseason race duke it out in the City of Brotherly Love on Monday Night Football, as the Philadelphia Eagles play host to the Chicago Bears.

Bears Notes: It feels like it has been a few eons since the Bears have won a primetime game, and their one appearance this year in the spotlight turned out to be a dud against the Detroit Lions. That being said, this is still a team that, at least coming into Week 9, is in the second Wild Card slot in the conference, and getting to 10 wins will probably be enough to get into the playoffs, especially with the wins that Chicago already has against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Atlanta Falcons. RB Matt Forte is going to have to do it all again for the Bears if they are going to win this game. Forte is in the midst of a contract dispute with the team, but he is still the leading rusher and receiver, and he already has over 1,000 total yards in just seven games this year. The Chicago defense will be tested as well, as this unit is conceding a whopping 380.6 yards per game this year.
Eagles Notes: It’s hard to think that a 3-4 team has this much hype around it right now. RB LeSean McCoy has been a man on a mission in these last two games, and he is pacing one of the best offenses in the NFL. The Eagles are averaging 449.4 yards per game this year, including 180 per game on the ground. We just don’t see how they are going to be stopped in this game. The question is whether the often criticized defense is going to be able to step it up. Last week was one thing against the Dallas Cowboys, a team that plays right into the hands of Philly. After all, this team was built on its trio of cornerbacks, and a true passing team is going to have a hard time against the Eagles if they can’t get a pass rush going. But, against Chicago, the test will be totally different. The majority of passes won’t test the corners, but the linebackers that are responsible for guarding Forte, and you can bet that there won’t be all that many deep shots taken against this team.
The Final Word: In the end though, the Eagles are going to force the Bears into being a one dimensional team. Keeping up on the ground might work for awhile, but once Philly takes the lead, especially in the second half and even more so in the fourth quarter, the ability to get the ball to Forte will be limited, forcing Cutler to put the ball in the air. Though we do think that this is going to be a relatively close game the whole way, in the end, we think that the Eagles stretch this lead out thanks to a big mistake by Cutler in the fourth.
