The season could very well be on the line for both the Tennessee Titans and the Indianapolis Colts when the two square off at LP Field on Thursday Night Football this week. Check out our NFL free picks for the duel between these two AFC South rivals, as they both try to close a bit of ground on the Jacksonville Jaguars for the division lead.

Colts Notes: If anyone has seen the real QB Peyton Manning floating around, please let us know. This imposter that has thrown 11 picks over the course of the last three games clearly isn't the man that is getting into No. 18's jersey in blue and white on a weekly basis right now. The mass majority of the time, Manning is putting up numbers and making plays like a real MVP. However, there are just those moments when he uncharacteristically tries putting the ball into traffic, and more often than not, those balls are getting intercepted. Two of those were returned for touchdowns last week by the Dallas Cowboys, and the final one of the four set up the game winning score in overtime. Manning needs 291 yards to crack the 4,000 yard barrier on the season. There are more injury woes now for Manning and his offense to worry about as well. RB Mike Hart came back to the lineup for one week, but an ankle injury is almost certainly going to sideline him. Parlay that with the ineffectiveness of both RB Javarris James and RB Donald Brown, and the necessity was there to go sign an old friend. Manning welcomes back RB Dominic Rhodes this week after his time with the Orlando Tuskers in the UFL was complete. WR Pierre Garcon and WR Austin Collie are probably both out as well this week, which will call WR Blair White into more action. If there's good news for Indy, it is that it will probably ultimately control its own destiny to win the AFC South and to get into the playoffs, though another divisional defeat will clearly shift the balance of power over to the Jags once and for all. The Colts are one back of Jacksonville right now, and they can avenge an earlier season loss when the two meet up one last time this month.

Titans Notes: There aren't many teams that can say that they are still in the playoff race in spite of the fact that they are 5-7, but if the Titans don't get things worked out right now, they are certainly finished, as they will be at least two games back, if not three by the time the week is over, with just three games to play. HC Jeff Fisher is clearly in some trouble and might have some questions that he needs to answer very, very soon in the Music City, as another loss would once again keep his squad out of the postseason, which could result in his firing. And for good reason! Last week, the Titans scored just six points at home in a divisional game against said Jaguars, marking the second straight game in which they did not score a touchdown. In fact, the last time this team found the end zone was on a punt return for a score by Marc Mariani. The last time the offense scored was over 13 quarters ago, easily the longest stretch for any team in the NFL this season. Things aren't necessarily getting better either, as QB Kerry Collins was the man that was responsible for that six game losing streak to start the season off last year. RB Chris Johnson, at least on paper, should have a great game against the Colts and their porous rush defense, but we just aren't so sure. Johnson is over the 1,000 yard mark this year with 1,026 yards, but he has only rushed for 58 yards on 20 carries with no scores over the last two weeks. Tennessee has lost five games in a row both SU and ATS, easily one of the worst stretches that this team has had in the illustrious coaching tenure of Fisher.

The Final Word: Conventional wisdom suggests that the Colts are finally going to rebound and get off the mat in the first meeting of these division foes this year. However, we just aren't so sure that's the case. We think that this is the game that Johnson really shines, and if he can get going on the ground and keep Manning off the field and make him pay for any potential mistakes, the Titans have a real shot in this one. Don't be surprised if Fisher outfoxes the Colts in this one and pulls out a tremendous victory from his hat that would absolutely cripple the season for the visitors.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will look to avoid a second straight NFL betting defeat at home against a divisional rival when they take on the Tennessee Titans on MNF.

Titans Notes: The Titans have been a weird team this year from the standpoint that they are just 1-2 at home and are 2-0 on the road. When RB Chris Johnson runs for at least 100 yards on the day, Tennessee is 3-0 SU and ATS. When he doesn't, it is 0-2 SU and ATS. Needless to say, for a man that has already carried the ball a whopping 113 times this year in just five games, Johnson has his work cut out for him once again on Monday Night Football. When QB Vince Young drops back to throw the football, he is usually looking to get the pigskin to either WR Nate Washington or WR Kenny Britt, particularly near the end zone. Young has only thrown for six scores this year, and all but one of those went to one of those two targets. Washington only has 15 receptions for the year for 218 yards, while Britt has just 14 catches for 173 yards, but the Jaguars certainly aren't going to be forgetting about the role that these two play while trying to run down Johnson, or they are going to be setting themselves up to get burned in a bad way. The Titans are really starting to struggle with opposing passing attacks. They are now ranked just No. 27 in the NFL in pass defense at 242.6 yards per game, and they conceded a total of over 800 yards in their L/2 games against the Denver Broncos and the Dallas Cowboys. The defensive line did a great job last week of keeping QB Tony Romo on the run, though. Romo was sacked six times. DE Jason Babin, once a first round draft choice of the Houston Texans, has emerged this year with Tennessee and leads the team with 5.5 sacks.

Jaguars Notes: In very uncharacteristic form, the Jags are playing 'over' game after 'over' game this year. There is plenty to be concerned about on the defensive side of the ball to say the least. Last week, Jacksonville gave up a whopping 26 points to the Buffalo Bills, who have been nothing but fodder for opposing defenses this year. In fact, that marked the fourth straight game in which a foe scored at least 26 points against it. The Jags have put 67 points on the board in the L/2 weeks, but they can't rely on that happening on a regular basis with an offense that really doesn't have too many aerial threats. QB David Garrard really isn't making the most of his chances this year, but he isn't getting burned by it quite yet. Garrard has completed 66.4 percent of his passes, which would easily be a career high if he kept it up for the season, for 789 yards with nine scores and six picks. With just 11 more TDs in his next 11 games, it would be the first time that Garrard threw for 20+ TDs in a season. TE Marcedes Lewis is becoming a terrific threat near the end zone. He only has 192 yards on 16 receptions this year, but five of those 16 snares have come for touchdowns. The offense is paced by the running of RB Maurice Jones-Drew, though. The man that resembles a little bowling ball has carried the ball 102 times this season for just 406 yards and one TD.

The Final Word: The way you beat the Titans is by throwing the ball, and that's not something that Garrard is really prone to doing all that well. Instead, HC Jack Del Rio is going to try to out-physical Tennessee, something that just isn't going to work. The Titans will get the ground game going and will take advantage of a Jacksonville defense that really hasn't run up against a superior ground game yet this year. Johnson will get to the century mark once again on the ground, and once again, the end result won't change.

Monday Night Football betting action will head to the Music City, where the Arizona Cardinals and Tennessee Titans will play their second preseason betting duel of the year.

Cardinals Notes: Things looked awfully grim for the Cardinals through three quarters of play last week at home against the Houston Texans. They were down 16-0 and really had produced no semblance of an offense and minimal defense. The only thing that kept Arizona in the game was the fact that the red zone defense held Houston out of the end zone the entire night. From that point forward though, the light bulb flicked on and the Cardinals were unstoppable. There probably isn't a legitimate quarterback battle going on right now, as HC Ken Whisenhunt has already declared his man to be QB Matt Leinart. However, the former USC Trojan failed to lead the team to a score on his first attempts of the year. He did go 6-for-7 for 49 yards, but was sacked twice, which ultimately led to his demise with the 'O'. Backup QB Derek Anderson, who came over from the Cleveland Browns in the offseason, went 13-of-22 for 88 yards with a TD and two picks. The man who really looked sharp was third stringer John Skelton, a rookie out of Fordham. Skelton might be playing more this week, as he threw the touchdown pass that proved to make the difference in a 19-16 victory. The rushing attack, which was ranked one of the worst in the conference last year, got off to a poor start in '10, averaging just 3.2 yards per carry against a Houston front that isn't necessarily known for its stellar play against ground games.

Titans Notes: Titans betting aficionados were probably incredibly fortunate to hit the backdoor in a 20-18 defeat last week against the Seattle Seahawks at Qwest Field. The starting offense got off to a good start under the direction of QB Vince Young, as Tennessee found the end zone on its first drive of the game. Young ultimately went 5-of-6 for 78 yards with an INT in his 2010 debut. RB Chris Johnson, who was a 2,000+ yard back last year, only had seven yards on five carries, but he did come up with the lone first quarter TD in the game. The biggest problem the Titans had defensively was trying to stop QB Charlie Whitehurst when he was in the game. Though he is still technically a backup quarterback, Whitehurst looked like a starter against one of the worst pass defenses in the league. He threw for 214 yards and a pair of scores against a Titans 'D' with no answers. It was when Whitehurst left the game that the comeback was on. Trailing 20-7 going into the fourth quarter, Tennessee struck with a field goal and a RB LeGarrette Blount TD run to cut the deficit to two, the final margin of victory. Expect head coach Jeff Fisher to try to get more reps for both QBs Chris Simms and Rusty Smith. Both think they can grab the third roster spot on this team as a signal caller, but odds have it, only one of the two will actually survive final cuts.

The Final Word: The Titans were a bit fortunate last week to hit the backdoor, but Arizona was just as lucky to claim a victory. Neither one of these offenses scare us that much once the starters leave the game, and we tend to believe that a low scoring Monday Nighter is going to be the end result. This one could ultimately go either way, but we'll go with the hosts in a close, low scoring NFL preseason betting encounter.

Prediction: Titans 16 – Cardinals 14
