The Boston Celtics will look to wrap up their best-of-seven series against the Cleveland Cavaliers, as they meet in the Quicken Loan Arena at Cleveland for game six. If the Celtics are to do it, they have to do something they haven't done so far during the post season and that's win on the road. The Celtics went up 2-0 with wins at Boston. The Cavaliers evened the series with two straight at home, before the Celtics took a 3-2 lead with a 96-89 victory, Wednesday night.
The Celtics have been strong during the season as far as Vegas is concerned. They are 58-35 ATS overall, but have dropped three in a row against the number and four of their last five. The Cavaliers are 45-48 ATS this year and have covered three straight and five of their last six games.
The Celtics got great production from two of their three big scorers, as Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett came through with strong games. Pierce scored a team-high 29 points and Garnett took over with 26 points and a game-high 16 rebounds. The odd man out has been Ray Allen. He was off again and has yet to come through with a good game. Allen finished with 11 points. Point guard Rajon Rondo picked up the slack and scored 20 points, while handing out 13 assists. He was outstanding at controlling the game and committed just one turnover in 42 minutes. Doc Rivers shortened his bench and is likely to do it again tonight. Only James Posey logged more than 15 minutes off the pine and he and Glen Davis were the only two in double figures in minutes played.
The Cavaliers got 35 points from their superstar LeBron James, but the forward is still not hitting key shots and connected on just 12-of-25 attempts and missed all five three point shots. James got little help from his supporting cast, which is something the Cavs did at home. Zydrunas Ilgauskas struggled and Ben Wallace was nearly invisible upfront. Point guard Delonte West was solid, with 21 points, but Wally Szczerbiak struggled. The Cavs bench, which was so good at Cleveland didn't do much. They'll need better minutes from Anderson Varejao, Joe Smith and Daniel Gibson. The Cavs shot 45-percent from the field and just 19-percent (3-16) from beyond the arc.
