NFL Football Quarterback, Peyton Manning's First 10 Seasons Review

By: Cappersinfo Staff

It seems like only yesterday that a young quarterback drafted from the University of Tennessee burst onto the NFL Football scene, but at of the end of the 2007 season, Peyton Manning has played a whole decade in the National Football League. He certainly has made his mark on the league, putting up huge numbers and overcoming a label of not being able to win the big game by finally getting a Super Bowl trophy (and MVP Award too) following the 2006 season. Overall though, how has the first ten years of NFL play treated Peyton Manning?

With the 3,000 yard mark still being used as the line separating the very good quarterbacks from the others in the NFL, Peyton Manning has passed for more than 4,000 yards in all but two of his NFL Football seasons.

Manning has not only played in every NFL regular season game each season he has been in the NFL, but he has started every game as well.

Peyton has twice been the NFL's league leader in pass completions (2000 and 2003) and during his rookie season, he led the league in pass attempts.

From 2004-2006, Peyton Manning was the NFL's league leader in passer rating with marks of 121.1, 104.1, and 101.0.

Manning has also been the league leader in touchdown passes thrown three times during his first ten years in the NFL; the first time in 2000 (33), then in 2004 (49), and finally in 2006 (31).

Manning has been selected to play in eight Pro Bowls, including three times being selected to the All-Pro team.

Peyton Manning enters the 2008 season at the age of 32, an age when many quarterbacks go on to see their biggest numbers, and he is already on the career leader board in a number of categories. Manning ranks 8th in history in terms of passes completed in a career, ninth in passes attempted in a career, ninth in passing yards in a career, fourth in passing touchdowns in a career, second in career passer rating, and number one overall in passing yards per game for an entire career.

Peyton Manning is already one of the greatest quarterbacks that the NFL has ever seen and he is only just now finishing the first part of his football career. The things ahead of the great Peyton Manning will further establish his fine reputation as a Hall of Fame quarterback and will also continue to endear him to his legion of fans.
