The Clemson Tigers and South Florida Bulls probably underachieved this year, but they are both going to be playing on Tobacco Road on New Year's Eve for the first of a four pack of NCAA football bowl games at the Meineke Car Care Bowl. Which team will beat the college football betting lines? Check out our preview and our Meineke Car Care Bowl picks.

Meineke Bowl Matchup: South Florida Bulls vs. Clemson Tigers
Date: Friday, December 31st, 12:00 ET
Location: Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte, NC
Meineke Bowl Line: Clemson -5.5
Over/Under 40.5

Bulls Notes: The good news for Head Coach Skip Holtz is that his team really did a nice job this year responding to his system defensively. For a team that struggled at times last year, holding teams to just 19.5 points per game was fantastic. However, the offense really didn't do well enough for this team to finish significantly better than .500. The Bulls didn't ran higher than No. 71 in the nation in any major offensive category this year, and 312.2 yards per game ranked No. 69 of the 70 bowl teams in the country this season. QB BJ Daniels went in the wrong direction this year after a relatively successful freshman season in which he replaced the injured QB Matt Grothe. This year, Daniels only completed 56.4 percent of his passes for 1,496 yards and 9 TDs. Tossing 12 picks was awful for a man that only averaged 18.2 passes per game this year. His top target was WR Dontavia Bogan, who caught 46 passes for 670 yards and five TDs. On the ground, things weren't significantly better, but for a team that had a run/pass ratio of over 1.50:1, this is the most important part of the team. RB Moise Plancher was the team's leading rusher with 743 yards, while RB Demetris Murray will carry the ball a lot as well. He had 517 yards this year. Both had four trips to the end zone.

Tigers Notes: Clemson knows that it really underachieved this year. Though the defense was fantastic, the lack of an offense was the reason why this team went 5-0 for 'under' bettors on the campaign. The Tigers built their defense around DE Da'Quan Bowers, who was the nation's sack leader. This team only conceded 312.4 yards per game and 17.8 points per game, making this one of the best units in the ACC. Before giving up 29 to the South Carolina Gamecocks, Clemson had held six straight foes to 16 points or fewer. However, in those six games, it only went 4-2 SU and 3-3 ATS. Thank the offense, which also really wasn't worth much this year, much like its counterparts in this game. The Tigers only got 2,080 yards out of QB Kyle Parker this year, and he had 12 TDs against 10 picks. On the ground, both RB Jamie Harper and RB Andre Ellington played relatively well, but neither was all that explosive. The two combined for 1,415 yards and 16 scores on the campaign, but this accounted for half of the offensive TDs on the year.

The Final Word: Clemson is probably the better team in this game, but we aren't really so sure that that is going to translate into a victory. The Tigers will get some good defensive player for certain, but Daniels and company should be able to put just enough points on the board to win this game outright. Don't be shocked if this starts all of the upsets that we have all been waiting for on New Year's Eve.

Matchup: Rutgers Scarlet Knights @ South Florida Bulls
Date: Wednesday, November 2nd, 7:00 ET
Location: Raymond James Stadium, Tampa, FL
Game Line: South Florida -10
Over/Under 41.5

Wednesday night is a night for the Big East conference to shine in the national spotlight when the 4-3 South Florida Bulls host the 4-3 Rutgers Scarlet Knights. A week and a half ago, the Bulls secured a huge conference win when they went into Cincinnati and knocked off the Bearcats 38-30 as a double digit road underdog. QB BJ Daniels finally showed the promise that Bulls fans saw last season, completing 13 of 16 passes for 286 yards with two touchdowns while also carrying the ball for 35 yards and two touchdowns in the victory. Most importantly, Daniels avoided the turnover bugaboo that has plagued him through much of the season. However, the USF defense will have to do much better after giving up close to 600 total yards of offense to the Bearcats. The Scarlet Knights will look to bounce back after a 41-21 loss to Pittsburgh in their last game. Rutgers continued to struggle mightily on offense, with quarterbacks Chas Dodd and Tom Savage combining to complete 10 of 22 passes for 108 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Dodd has been named the starter for the game but Savage could very well see some time again. Rutgers’ defense will also need to improve if Greg Schiano wants to walk out of Tampa with a win after allowing over 500 total yards of offense to the Panthers two Saturdays ago.

Matchup: South Florida Bulls @ Cincinnati Bearcats
Date: Friday, October 22nd, 8:00 ET
Location: Nippert Stadium, Cincinnati, OH
Game Line: Cincinnati -7.5
Over/Under 47.5

The 3-3 Cincinnati Bearcats will play their second straight Friday night game against a Big East opponent this week, when they take on the 3-3 South Florida Bulls. Last week, the Bearcats played a wild game against the Louisville Cardinals and came out with a 35-27 road win. In the win, QB Zach Collaros had a very efficient game, completing 18 of 28 passes for 275 yards with five touchdowns and two interceptions. RB Isaiah Pead also had a huge game, carrying the ball 21 times for 145 yards and keeping the ball out of Louisville’s hands. On the day, Cincinnati put up 453 yards of offense and moved to 1-0 in conference. The Bearcats will need to put together a better performance on defense though after giving up 434 yards to Louisville and allowing Cardinals RB Bilal Powell to rush for over 200 yards on the evening. South Florida was nothing short of dreadful in their 20-6 loss against West Virginia last Thursday night. Sophomore QB BJ Daniels looked like he had regressed and was flustered all night, completing 20 of 30 passes for just 119 yards and throwing three interceptions while getting sacked four times. RB Moise Plancher was better, carrying the ball 11 times for 63 yards, but needs to be more effective if the Bulls hope to win in Cincinnati. On the bright side, the South Florida defense completely shut down the explosive Noel Devine, holding Devine to just 29 yards on 13 carries and holding West Virginia to under 300 total yards.

Matchup: Kansas State Wildcats @ Kansas Jayhawks
Date: Thursday, October 14th, 7:30 ET
Location: University of Kansas Memorial Stadium, Lawrence, KS
Game Line: Kansas St -2.5
Over/Under 50.5

The Sunflower State Showdown lacks a little of the luster seen in previous years, but that doesn’t mean the in-state rivalry between the 2-3 Kansas Jayhawks and the 4-1 Kansas St Wildcats will mean any less to the teams involved Thursday night. To say that first year head coach Turner Gill has gotten off to a rocky start with the Jayhawks is a bit of an understatement. Kansas opened their season with a humiliating 6-3 loss against FCS North Dakota State and was blown out by the Baylor Bears two weeks ago in Waco. The 55-7 win that the Bears recorded was the biggest conference win in Baylor history, and it completely dominated the Jayhawks from start to finish. The Jayhawks allowed an eye-popping 678 total yards while their offense could only muster 270 total yards and turned the ball over four times against the Bears. Needless to say, the Jayhawks will need a much better performance in order to beat the Wildcats. Kansas State is coming off an embarrassing outing itself, falling 48-13 to Nebraska in Manhattan last Thursday night on HC Bill Snyder’s birthday nonetheless. The Wildcats defense allowed the Nebraska offense to rush for 451 yards and gave up over 10 yards per play to the Cornhuskers. In particular, Nebraska QB Taylor Martinez was allowed to run wild, carrying the ball 15 times for 241 yards and four touchdowns. For the Wildcats, RB Darren Thomas was completely shut down by the Huskers’ defense despite coming into the game as one of the leading rushers in the country. Thomas carried the ball 22 times for 63 yards and will need to have a better game against the Jayhawks as the Wildcat offense runs through him.

Matchup: South Florida Bulls @ #25 West Virginia Mountaineers
Date: Thursday, October 14th, 7:45 ET
Location: Milan Puskar Stadium, Morgantown, WV
Game Line: West Virginia -10.5
Over/Under 43

West Virginia kicks off Big East play Thursday night when they host the South Florida Bulls at Mountaineer Field. The Mountaineers are 4-1 with their only loss being at the hands of undefeated LSU in Death Valley and look to be the class of the Big East this season. Last Saturday against the UNLV Rebels, the Mountaineers put together their most dominant performance of the season, scoring a huge 49-10 victory to get back into the Top 25. RB Noel Devine was battling a toe injury and only carried the ball three times, but racked up 84 yards and two touchdowns in limited action in the victory. QB Geno Smith also had a fantastic day for West Virginia, throwing for 220 yards and three touchdowns in the win. HC Bill Stewart’s defense has also been stellar this year, allowing just 255 yards per game and seven touchdowns in five games in 2010. As for South Florida, HC Skip Holtz has gotten off to a less than stellar start in his first year on the job, losing both games against BCS conference opponents while only mustering wins against two Sun Belt conference teams and an FCS team. Last week against Syracuse, the Bulls put together a pitiful performance at home in a 13-9 loss. QB BJ Daniels was downright dreadful, completing just 9 of 23 passes for 124 yards and two interceptions while being sacked four times. The South Florida offense as a whole was only able to muster 219 yards against the typically porous Orange defense and the USF defense allowed over 300 yards of offense to a Cuse offense which is typically pitiful in conference play. If the Bulls hope to come out of Morgantown with a win on Thursday, Daniels will need to outperform Smith and limit his turnovers.

Here at Cappers Info, we are taking a weekly look at the teams that could be ones ripe to pull off some major upsets! Check out the potentially ugly dogs that could come up and bite you in the butt in you aren't careful for the second week of college football betting action!

Florida State Seminoles (+300 at Diamond Sportsbook) @ Oklahoma Sooners, Saturday, 3:30 ET: Inevitably, the Seminoles are going to need a Herculean effort just to even remotely stick around with the Sooners this week. However, just as former HC Bobby Bowden had no fear about going on the road and trying to beat any team in the country, new HC Jimbo Fisher is in dire need of a signature win to nail himself down as the true captain of the garnet and gold ship this year. If QB Christian Ponder wants to win the Heisman Trophy this year, he has to outduel fellow Heisman candidate QB Landry Jones. The Oklahoma defense looked mortal last week in a 31-24 win over Utah State. FSU might be able to catch the Sooners napping just a tad and pull a tremendous upset that could ultimately send huge shockwaves through the ACC and the rest of the college football betting world.

UCLA Bruins (+220 at Diamond Sportsbook) vs. Stanford Cardinal, Saturday, 10:30 ET: The Bruins might be a better team than we originally thought at the outset of the season. They didn't play all that poorly against Kansas State last week, and it was amazing that they stuck within nine points in spite of the fact that QB Kevin Prince only completed nine of his 26 passes. Things can only get better offensively from there. The Cardinal beat the snot out of Sacramento State last week, but who cares? It's Sacramento State. The ground game might have produced 213 yards, but no one made it past 57 last week individually. This is going to be the first real challenge for QB Andrew Luck, as the sophomore is going to be flying on the road for the first time without the services of RB Toby Gerhart behind him. This is a very, very interesting proposition for an upset, as the Bruins badly need to win this game and HC Rick Neuheisel knows it.

Michigan Wolverines (+165 at Diamond Sportsbook) @ Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Saturday, 3:30 ET: Last week, we picked against Big Blue and got burned in a bad way. This week, we aren't being as foolish. The Wolverines looked great against a team that we still have a good feeling about in the UConn Huskies. There were no answers for QB Denard Robinson last week for the Huskies, and we tend to think that the Irish aren't going to have much more work. Robinson completed 19-of-22 passes for 186 yards and a TD and rushed for another 197 yards and a TD on 29 carries. HC Rich Rodriguez's defense played fantastic ball as well, holding Connecticut to just ten points and 343 yards. Be very, very careful Notre Dame. The Wolverines might be able to put together a fantastic effort even away from the Big House and pull off the solid upset.

South Florida Bulls (+600 at Diamond Sportsbook) @ Florida Gators, Saturday, 12:20 ET: Could the Gators really be in store for yet another difficult game this week? The Bulls know that they can already go into hostile territory in the Sunshine State and walk away with a victory. Ask the Seminoles all about that from last year. As for Florida, nothing worked offensively in the first week of the post Tim Tebow era, and we don't know if that's really going to change. What we do know is that someone else needs to be snapping the football. Seven times snaps were left on the ground last week against the Miami Redhawks, resulting in two turnovers. South Florida looked good offensively last week in a hefty win over Stony Brook, but we need to remember that this is still just Stony Brook. HC Skip Holtz knows how to pull upsets in the big game, and it isn't going to get much bigger than this. QB BJ Daniels has been here and done this as well. We think that 16.5 points is a slew of points to be giving a team that could be poised to make a great run in the Swamp. Don't be shocked if this one comes down to the wire.
